Do you have to pay every year in order for this OBD reader to work ? If you dont pay does that still work ? Do you need to have internet to used it ? If you don't updates does that still work without updates ? Out from the box can you used it without wifi or internet ? Can this scan for Fuel Pressure ? And can this do compression test ?

Wow that's a lot fo questions, ok, I'll try to get them all. No you don't have to pay every year, it comes with 2 years. If you don't pay, it won't update but it will still work (eventually its going to get too behind and not be useful). You need Wifi for first set up and to active it, that is a must, after that you don't need wifi, but its a good idea to use wifi every so often as it will update for free during your two years. It can do static compression on some engines, but not all. For fuel pressure I'm not sure. I didn't look at the live data for fuel to see if it was reading pressure.

How do you think currently top down in x tools offerings the same price point differ?

Hey There, I think its a personal preference. I find the X tools (I'll be reviewing a mid tier one in a week or so) menu is different than Launch. Once you get use to one operating system its easy to stick with that brand. I find at similar prices points they do pretty much the same things, but there are variables between manufacturers so if you are just doing it for yourself, find the one that best suits your car. If you are doing multiple cars then find the one you are most comfortable with. One thing I did find was the Launch seems to be built more durable (heavier plastic and rubber) so it probably has a better chance of surviving a drop to a garage floor although I can't say I have tested that LOL. Its a very competitive market with scanners.

Came out at the perfect timing. I just bought this and the Thinktool Pros. I do not know which one to keep.

@@GarageKing yeah for sure. Have you been able to active purge valves and vent valves with it? Or have you even tried?

@@shaunmaxwell2745 Haven't tested that yet, but if you are referring to EVAP purge valve I remember seeing that activation in the menu (for Honda) I didn't do it in the video as the camera would never be able to pick up the sound for that test as you can barely hear the valve when its tested.

how is it using a global launch model versus buying a launch usa model like the torque or turbo? have you ran into anything odd? seems to really be the same. I talked to launch usa and they say to only buy a launch usa model. but looks like yours works the same.

Yes it should as long as the ECM will deliver that information. I found that it delivers different information for different manufacturers. This scanner does a lot.

Does that scanner work on Ram Trucks? i didn't notice it on the vehicles selection.

Before using this machine does it need to be connected to wifi?, I’m in the UK and I have just bought one went to use it for the first time and it wouldn’t let me scan without wifi connection which is a pain cause I was away from the house

You can use it when you are not on WIFI, but for the first time you must use it on wifi to set it up. If you bought a used one you should be ok, unless the previous owner wiped the account information.

@@GarageKingjust to clarify, when setting the scanner up WiFi is needed but when working on a car all its features are available without being connected to WiFi , in other words the scanner works 100% offline?

@@harnas3848 It should work, but if it has not been updated for a while not all features are going to be available. Also I notice it likes to check wifi sometimes before you use it, it gets the machine info, and even if expired, no big deal, BUT (this is just what I think) it wants to go on wifi to make sure its not stolen. If it is then you can't use it if its taken off the Launch support, its the machine is legit then you can go off wifi and use it.

Hey There, not sure about that one as I never tried it. I would assume it would as it does a lot. If you want to confirm you can click the link in the video description, and that will take you to the amazon link where I purchased the scanner and you can ask the question, they are pretty good at responding. They will want exact model and year.

You can write so I'm sure you can although I have not tried it for adjusting the idle RPM. You could always reach out to Kingbolen who is a distributer on Amazon, provide your vin and ask them. They should know. Here is the link to their channel www.youtube.com/@kingbolen_official

Is this Scanner has an ECM / PCM reset?

Yes, but the ECP / PCM reset varies between manufacturers.

@@LeonelPlancarte It may be able to do it on all models, I'm not sure, but when I go through it some of the functions vary for different manufacturers so I can't unequivocally say it can do it for all of them. If you have a specific model you could always reach out to Launch to verify. Most likely it can, but I can't confirm.

@@nattan3226 All good brother, the topology is nice, it makes things faster and kinda gives you an outline of your complete car. Plus it does make it easier to go into each module to diagnose. I do really like the topology.

@@GarageKing you can see all the modules how they are connected to each other. when i work on cars that requires an obd2 scanner i rent one for about 1k USD Thats about 5k in philippine peso. just scan, delete and relearn if it requires some learning after a new sensor is replaced.
