In this video I'll explain that in "A World of Words" published in 1598 John Florio replied to the attacks by Greene and Nashe in the Groatsworth of Wit in which they wrote about an "Absolute Johannes Factotum".
This is the documented proof that John Florio was defined by Nashe and Greene as an Absolute Johannes Factotum, altering his pen name 'Resolute Iohannes Florius'.

Johannes Factotum was Giovanni Florio without any doubt whatsoever. It is impossible to even think of contesting this absolute truth. But to give greater force to the thesis you forget to mention (or maybe you don't know) that the author of Groatswrth of Wit in 1592 (I am not sure Robert Greene wrote it) had taken the term ‘factotum’ from a work written the year before in 1591 and the work is by Giovanni Florio. In his Second Fruits, cap.XII, pagg.166-7, Giovanni speaks of Love (it is not the love everyone thinks of) and defines it as Dittatore (che) dispone del tutto ‘Dictator (who) disposes of everything’ in Italian and "Dominus fac totum" in the English version, with these last two words detached. if you peruse the original printed version of the Groatsworth without emendations, you will find that even there ‘fac’ and ‘totum’ are separated. Not an evidence. A proof. Greene and Nashe, Florio's bitter enemies, had a childish habit of attacking him ... using his very own words. and one can give hundreds of examples
