You have such a talent for researching, synthesizing, and presenting complex subjects, Drea. This was a Tissue Culture Master Class. Thank you for all your work

I guarantee if you have a number of plants you probably have many TC plants and not just one. I have zero issues with TC and I don’t have an issue with plants I spent a lot of money on being cheaper now, that seems to have more to do with arrogance. I buy a plant because I like it not just because it’s rare, sure its fun to have a rare plant but at the end of the day the industry is changing and things rare today may not be rare tomorrow, that’s just a fact that we can’t change. You did an amazing amount of research on this video, thanks for all your efforts in bringing us quality information! ❤

Perfect timing, I need to go to the supermarket but I'm very dissociated and panicky. With you in my ears I can do it! Edit: I stand with you on tissue culture.

That sheds a little light on the controversy. I know Kaylee Ellen brings up the complaints about tissue culture a lot, especially in relation to the Delta Force since she sells it. I wondered if this was primarily a UK thing since they are much more anti-GMO and see tissue culture as something similar, or if it was just general annoyance at the plant being less rare. I just lopped off a section of one of my syngonium albos that was primarily white. Some leaves had a partial green border and it would look cool if those will propagate, but I figure the plants won’t have enough chlorophyll to thrive.

The only Anti tissue culture reasoning I can understand is the risk of spreading diseases or undesirable characteristics. As far as "stealing" someone's plant by tissue culturing it, I don't really believe plants should be patentable but they are so I feel like its the person's responsibility to seek out that patent and use it to protect themselves. Patents expiring is a good thing, plants should become widely available to everyone once the patent holder has had a chance to profit off their work.

Another fabulous video Drea!! You have such a great way of explaining things so us non-scientific people can understand. I resisted buying a Syngonium 3 Kings because the company I saw it at had it labeled as T.C. But I will go back and buy that next time it's on sale. TC is not the big evil deal I thought it was. Thank you so much for all that research you obviously had invested in this video!!

You’re welcome, and kudos to that place for labeling it that way since so many people are pushing for that💚

Do you think after a lot of plants being TC over and over again, in the future due the DNA variations and less resistance of pests and virus it can lead to the extinction of an specific plant or the extinction of a complete genus?
