The matte coating is not bad at all! Had the ASUS pg32ucdm and got this test since it was 300 bucks off. Needless to say returned the asus and kept the G8. Greater bang for your buck and don’t have to deal with seeing my reflection all the time lol

I like the matte coating a lot. Glossy screens look awful when I'm trying to shoot a video... too many hot spots. Plus, like you said, I don't want to look at my own reflection while I'm at my desk lol

Does anyone else get like 25-30 blank screens in and out for like 30-45 seconds when you first start your PC? I have 2 monitors and only the G80SD does it. Connected by DP (with a 2.1 backwards compatible cable) and and G Sync enabled via Nvidia control panel

How would you compare it to the Alienware counterpart? I’m stuck between the G8, the Alienware 32in QDOLED or the lg GS95UE. I like the LG bc it has dual mode. 4K 240 and 1080 480hz

I was debating too and eventually went with the g8. I had a 34gs95qe which was woled of the 32gs but thought that 480hz at 1080p was overkill as the monitor was never in stock/on sale. The g8 was on sale and I acctually really appreciate the qd oled vibrancy and never think that I need to go to 1080p ever. The purpose of buying a 32 inch panel is for the 4k 240hz experience so I would never use 1080 regardless of the game

It's the exact same panel, the alienware (which I own) has Dolby vision and hdmi earc pass through if you wanted a Dolby atmos soundbar without running it off of your gpu. Plus alienware has burn in warrenty

@@daves3108 Its the same panel but Samsung uses a matte coating, and alienware uses a semi gloss. To me the alienware monitor looks better since its a balance of good colors and anti reflection. I found Samsung to be to grainy and having oversaturated colors out of the box.

I actually own both monitors and so far the G8 has been my favorite of the 2. The matte coating is hardly noticeable and usually I hate matte coatings. The Dolby vision is the one thing I enjoyed about the AW over the G8. I’ll link my Reddit reviews if you want to see them

I use a display port to connect it to my Rtx 4090, there is some give to the ports when you plug it in but if you get a dp cable that has the lock in feature you’ll be fine

You definitely can but you will have to use upscaling on the modern titles that support it. Although this is true at 1440p as well in a lot of newer games so I wouldn’t let that stop you.

What is your take on power cord connection on the back? The whole panel where power cord and HDMI connects moves and i feel power cord doesn’t go all the way in which makes me nervous if this is a flaw on samsung

@@semajm85 sure i believe that but...why...i mean if you want a smarthub and all that jazz you get a tv, which is bigger, brighter and cheaper. And if its a monitor its already connected to a pc that can do it all... so whats the usecase? The small group of students that uses their monitor as a tv? ( i use to do that) but then again which student will pay 1300€ ...you get 200€ monitor and a chromecast and youre done. So why not save the cost on the hub and smart hub... i feel like more people need a good monitor than a smart monitor with all the gizmos which is expensive..

Have a M3 Max MacBook. Only getting 120hz on this monitor. Went through all the settings and no way to get 240hz. Have the MSI 321URX also and get 240hz without issue. Colors also appear better with the glossy display. Going to return the Samsung, as compared to the MSI its bloated with too much software.

I feel like you got paid to talk positive about this, since you really didn't talk about any downsides such as the common purple/red tint in many scenarios, no kvm, poor color display in Windows but good in some games. Are you running default video settings? Samsung doesn't support Dolby Vision in any of their TV's or monitors, they went with HDR10+ instead so this was no surprise.
