3 Weeks later and now I am in the same position. Now I am just binging reviews to experience it vicariously. I am excited to see how OLED looks on something larger than a phone. Then I should also know if devices like the Steam Deck OLED are worth the hype mid-generation haha. Not that I can afford one now that I snagged this display. I just spent the last 6 hours moving around all my displays and cable managing to prep for it. While I am at it, I am deep dusting and prepping my whole studio space. Had to cut some wood to make a platform for my PC to go under my desk to make space for my old 27in 1440p 95hz monitor to go in portrait mode to the left. It should be better for Discord messaging and code/pdf viewing. I then traded out my bedroom and office TV since I no longer need a 4k overhead display for Discord and reference materials at my desktop. The 1080p one in my bedroom had developed a dead row of pixels so it's no longer good for watching movies, but it should still be good enough for multitasking reference materials in my office. And then I have my 22inch pen display to the right for graphic design and illustration work. I should have just enough space for the 32-inch magnum opus in the center as my main display. I am hyped. Unfortunately I will have to wait two days for the new monitor arm to arrive so my old 27-inch display will be kicked off its arm and leaning against the wall in the meantime.

Hi everyone, I bought this monitor yesterday and as I am a real user, I would like to share my short experience regarding my 4 hours experience with samsung g80sd yesterday. There are positives and negatives of this monitor. I compared all the features with my 42 lg c2 which is 2 generation before of lg c series. Brightness: its hard to say that it is brighter than c2 because it depends on the scene changes and sometimes you feel c2 is brighter and sometimes you feel g80sd is brighter. Overall both are similar but samsung handling brightness better in dark parts that you can see more details bright without loosing colors. Black levels: Since both has similar technology but some differences, overall both gives you very good experience but sometimes you feel g80sd gives you grey shade of black because of matt coating and it disturb me sometimes but overall not that much. Since I am playing in dark room mostly its not an issue but when you have lights it become more grey. But again, this is small things not a big minus. Colors: I should admit that g80sd get win here with damm good colors. No further comment. Software: There are some points that you should consider on samsung is menü bar doesnt go away in a short time from the screen without pushing back button! Why! ? To me its annoying. Since both has similar smart feature c2 get win here. Using c2 is much easier. Only with one button you can reach game optimizer menu, its 2 more steps for samsung to reach that. Also after creating fine tune adjustments on samsung for each game mode, there is no easy way to choose and change game mode, you should do 2 more steps than lg c2! Sharpness: Clearly samsung is sharper than lg c2. But its not a day and night. I prefer samsung here, but again 1300€ in my country! Doesnt worth to me. Even I can go with c4 and most probably its better than c2 and closer to samsung sharpness but I know that mostly its because screen size. Samsung get win here. Black crushes: In dark scenes, switching from light to dark scenes there is a cloudy appreance on the scenes on every tv or monitor. For such scenes sometimes you can see square on the edge of the cloudy visual when scene running. This is ruining your picture quality and this is not hapening for every screen. On lg c2 I have it and I didnt succeed to reduce it. Bıt samsung doing a good job here and it is more smooth and sharpy. Samsung get win here. Maybe I called the issue wrong as black crushes but this is what happens. Summurizing; If this monitor would have been on price range like 600-700-800 € I could keep it. But with this price range(1300€) only for better colors, no way to keep. Over c2 it is more colorfull and sharper but not bright as expected and blacks are not good as c2 overall. I like colors, it really make difference but doesnt worth the price. Maybe I can spend 100€ or 200€ more over c2 for this but not 600/700€ more, no way. I will return it, I hope I can 😒

I think that Smart TV is great because streaming services rarely give you 4k and HDR in the browser. If you want to watch content 4K with HDR you need to read each service documentation on which browser is supported by them (yes browser, for example Netflix will give 4k HDR ONLY in EDGE), which system setting you must turn on, and if your cable supports version of HDCP they want. If you don't meet all their expectation you will get 1080 SDR which looks awful because of blacks not being HDR blacks (you get grey bars at top and bottom of movies). Many services wont give you 4k HDR or even 1080p HDR in browser and then you have to use ChromeCast or AppleTV device to use your OLED. Because of that if you want to watch movies I consider Smart TV to be a must have unless you want to buy separate device only for watching movies.

One of the really underrated feature on here is the 21:9 aspect ratio toggle. You get perfect 1600P scaling on ultrawide and can be used for competitive fps like CoD and it works a treat. The remote contol also makes this goated. This will be my endgame until it gives up the ghost.

@@billmangindaan9086 Its fine but not that optimal for all games. Great for online/competitive titles as if gives you a big field of view, but using it will also make your viewing area quite small - akin to a 29" ultrawide (but much sharper). For singleplayer games like Horizon, I'd just opt for a regular 34" ultrawide screen if you intend to play games at 21:9. Less intensive on GPU as well since there's less pixels to run at 1440P ultrawide resolution.

It's on Samsungs website (USA), they now have it say that they cover burn in. A warranty is going to cover defects, and burn in is a defect within that period. As long as it's through normal use, you should be covered

In your opinion, which one is better between asus pg32ucdm monitor and samsung odyssey g80sd? Your opinion is important to me because you have experienced both.
@kekplexisАй бұрын
The main difference is that asus is glossy and samsung is matte
@rahuldharmendran2770Ай бұрын
As far as i have seen buy the asus if you use your monitor in a bright room with many lights or in the day and the samsung if you use it in a dark room. This is because of 2 issues: 1. Matte coating in samsung( doesnt show reflections of you on the screen but reduces the intensity of the light produces by the oled panel) and glossy coating in asus ( shows reflection but does not reduce intensity of light and shows you true oled colors). 2. low brightness in samsung( you get 230-250 nits in sdr and 350-375 nits in hdr) whereas asus is way brighter( close to 300 nits in sdr and close to 350 nits in hdr). The brightness they say for the asus one as 1000 nits is just at few areas of the screen( like 2-10% of screen). you would have to compare them yourself or watch videos to see if you could actually see the difference between the matte and glossy finish but the samsung's low brightness makes it bad in day time. I have not seen or tested this monitors but this is what I learnt from other reviews and other g80sd and pg32ucdm users opinions from youtube and reddit.
@kekplexisАй бұрын
@@rahuldharmendran2770 this is not correct. Samsung is designed to be able to be used in bright room or during the day because of its matte coating. Glossy monitors turn into a mess in the bright rooms.
@rahuldharmendran2770Ай бұрын
@@kekplexis Samsung's matte coating will not look that good in daytime. It doesn't completely remove reflections. It just blurs it. I saw a review comparing aw3225qf vs g80sd by Ben geskin on KZbin. The reflections are shown in a few cases like his videos. Also the matte coating is not the main reason. The main reason is the very low brightness of 250 nits. You can't see well in daytime with 250 nits.

Is it nornal for this monitor to get a little bit hot around the Samsung logo at the botom?
@herremilkanter3 ай бұрын
I would say the monitor gets hot in general compared to my old backlit IPS, and that's probably by design. It has heatpipes running next to the panel to keep it cool inside, dumping the heat in to the aluminum casing and surrounding air.
@20puskinas19923 ай бұрын
If it gets hot it mean that Samsung heatsink is doing great job at pushing heat away from the panel. Samsung says that their appraoch is best in bussines.
