I've been saying this for a long time now: the US wants to show it can buy the palm of victory for bankrupt Ukraine by pumping in support but without sending any of its own troops or regular units to the front. It's a demonstration of power (also): "my friends always win because they are my friends". But actually giving Kiev the kind of victory it demands would be prohibitively expensive for the US and NATO, and they didn't count on that. They had never prepared and stocked up for a long, large-scale land-and-trenches artillery war in Europe, and they can't run up past Russia on this.

@@claireh.7605 Minsk and Minsk 2 were negotiations about the civil war between the Donbas and the rest of Ukraine. The rest of Ukraine was losing both times they agreed to negotiate regarding the civil war. The problem here though, is that democracy now is basically saying that Ukraine just needs to deal with it, and make peace with Russia. They need to give up land to Russia, not have Russians held accountable for war crimes, give up Crimea, Etc. I’ve just been absolutely blown away at how democracy now and so many far left and far right Americans have gotten this conflict so wrong. Russia illegally invaded a democratic sovereign nation under false pretense. America did the same thing when we illegally invaded Iraq the second time under false pretense. And America is a democratic socialist republic, but democracy now and people like myself who are progressive independence were completely against this war. We knew it was America’s fault, but we also knew that Saddam was an authoritarian demagogue and dictator. He needed to be overthrown. But we knew that it wasn’t America’s job to illegally invade Iraq spend 1 trillion on the credit card, and lied to the American public about what the war was really about. So here we are now with Ukraine, and we have an authoritarian fascist, demagogue and dictator running Russia, who illegally invades Ukraine in a decade ago, kills, rapes, and tortures, Ukrainian civilians in the east, doesn’t have marked troops which is against the Geneva, convention, illegally steals, Crimea And then illegally invades on a massive scale a year ago, purposely targeting civilians with rape, killing and torture, committing mass of war, crimes, etc. The entire civilized world comes to their head and says no, we need a rules based world, where democratic, independent, and sovereign nations should be allowed to exist, and Aggressors who illegally invade under false pretense, should be battles by the entire world. But what does democracy now do this time? They say stop the war! We need to stop the war! Everyone is like yeah we do need to stop the war as Russia needs to leave, Russia needs to rebuild what they’ve destroyed, and Russia needs to give up people who committed war crimes. But democracy now is actually saying no, America and Europe need to stop giving money in arms, Ukraine actually needs to give up the land that has been stolen from them and just deal with the rape, killing and torture and destruction of their country. This is constantly what democracy now is saying to the listeners, and it absolutely blows my mind, and disgusts me on a deep level. I don’t know if it’s just that from the top down and democracy now the people don’t understand what they’re saying and just have gotten really dumb or if they actually have Russian military intelligence operatives who is infiltrated and worked there or what but at this point democracy now is basically reporting identically to Russian state, television fascist, authoritarian dictator propaganda. Democracy now sounds identical to Tucker Carlson on Fox News as these shows are telling Americans that Ukraine just needs to deal with it and why is the civilized world trying to help Ukraine and what is really bad about Russia anyway and on and on. I’m sorry but democracy now has permanently lost my respect, my support, and my donations. They have embarrass themselves on the world stage by either acting naïve, or poorly educated, or straight up propagandist machine for a fascist authoritarian Russian state. They should be ashamed of themselves. If someone illegally breaks into your home, kills members of your family, and decides to steal, a couple of your rooms in the house then you would fight back until they were out of your house. And if somebody was telling you, you just needed to be diplomatic about it and make peace then you would wonder what the hell that person was talking about. This is democracy now. we all want the war to end, but it will end when Russia leaves Ukraine that’s it. They illegally invaded, they are illegally, killing, raping, and torturing civilians and soldiers, they are bombing infrastructure that is mostly civilian, which is a war crime, they are targeting hospitals and power grid and water treatment facilities, which is a war crime, but People on the far left on the far right think that Ukraine should just make peace with Russia, and then the civilized world should stop supporting a democratic sovereign independent country who wants to join the rest of the civilized world. What is wrong with you people? What happened to you? You disgust me.

I don’t think the Ukrainian people have the choice of being anti-war. What is the anti-war plan for ending or better yet avoiding this war. Ukraine being a doormat for Russia is not a valid choice. It’s easy to be anti-war when it’s not your home that is being invaded!

Can you give us the details of the Russian peace plan?
@krevetka9744
@krevetka9744 Жыл бұрын
@@WilkinsMichael Minsk 1 and 2: 1. To ensure an immediate bilateral ceasefire. 2. To ensure the monitoring and verification of the ceasefire by the OSCE. 3. Decentralisation of power, including through the adoption of the Ukrainian law "On temporary Order of Local Self-Governance in Particular Districts of Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts". 4. To ensure the permanent monitoring of the Ukrainian-Russian border and verification by the OSCE with the creation of security zones in the border regions of Ukraine and the Russian Federation. 5. Immediate release of all hostages and illegally detained persons. 6. A law preventing the prosecution and punishment of people in connection with the events that have taken place in some areas of Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts. 7. To continue the inclusive national dialogue. 8. To take measures to improve the humanitarian situation in Donbas. 9. To ensure early local elections in accordance with the Ukrainian law "On temporary Order of Local Self-Governance in Particular Districts of Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts". 10. To withdraw illegal armed groups and military equipment as well as fighters and mercenaries from the territory of Ukraine. 11. To adopt a programme of economic recovery and reconstruction for the Donbas region. 12. To provide personal security for participants in the consultations. Authorities of Germany, Ukraine and France already publicly admitted they were never serious about implementing Minsk agreements, but were buying time to arm Ukraine against Russia. Istanbul peace talks. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan in the end of March 2022 said peace talks in Istanbul had given "meaningful impetus" to efforts to end the war in Ukraine. Zelensky was also positive about their mutual efforts. Right after that prime minister of UK Boris Johnson visited Zelensky. The conversation was never made public. But after that Zelensky completely denied all further negotiations. Elon Musk proposed a peace plan to end this conflict. Both Kyiv and Kremlin were against this plan, but the difference is: Zelensky shouted at Elon and said he is pro-Kremlin in a quite rude way. Meanwhile, Russian authorities said that they value any attempts to seek diplomatic solution. My own peace plan mirrors Putin's recent question. Why can't we all implement ceasefire unconditionally? Just as a temporary solution. To stop the killing, evacuate civilians, provide humanitarian aid to those in need. Both sides think they are on the right side of history. Then why fight? Let's present points, discuss them together and provide all the necessary evidence. Then let neutral observers decide who is right and who is wrong.

This is why Biden is willing to drag this war on so as much destruction is done in order to create a blank state to start from to build the perfect privatized US military state. There was a video on this on you tube but has since been removed that listed the names of all the people from Blackrock, Goldman Sachs and other large US corporations that were going to divide up Ukraine, with Zelenski standing to make billions

Destroying a natural gas pipeline that bypasses Ukraine's transnational above ground pipelines to deliver natural gas to the German and rest of Western European energy markets.... In order for Ukraine to make significantly weaken Russia in this conflict by slamming in the door on the ever wavering German government's ability to in the future withdraw support for continuing Ukraine's resistance in order to get the spigots turned back on Nord steam and resume selling natural gas around Ukraine's traditional transnational natural gas pipeline infrastructure to Europe. Ukraine was in blatant violation of international law (the Minsk II was ratified by the UN Security Council, making it international law), and building up forces for further violating international law by invading Donetsk and Luhansk. You don't need to like the fact that international law prohibited him from sending in his Nazis, some of which were reinstated into the Ukrainian military, after having been convicted, in Ukrainian courts, of raping babies (I can link you the evidence videos, if you want to watch it). What you need to do, is recognize that Russia has more legal justification for their war, than the US has for any of its 7+ current wars. Telling the US to stop starving hundreds of thousands of Yemeni children to death doesn't seem to work. There's no reason to think that Russia will be more receptive to being told to stop their far more humane warfare. Btw, can you name the 7 wars that the US is currently engaged in? No? The NY FBI field office has been proven to be corrupt and on Trump's side. The only way Bernie or another social Democrat could get elected and change our economy to a mixed economic system is to impeach half of the SCOTUS, pack the courts, destroy Citizens United, codify Roe, investigate the GOP and corporate Dems for donation monies by corporations and force them into resignations, and develop a multiparty system. And outlaw Evangelicalism, the preachers must be prosecuted like frauds. Other countries have done it, and we refuse to. Ceding land to Putin is NOT democracy. Zubok is adhering to delusional information about the status of the war. For conflict resolution it is necessary to understand from the other side. It is how they see things which need to be understood, it's not about who is right necessarily. To me, not joining NATO, agreeing to be relatively neutral... work with both EU and Russia, allowing the East some autonomy and at least allow their language and not treat as sub human, would have been a price not too high for peace. Inviting NATO in on Russia's border, which has proven to be preparing Ukraine for war w Russia, not concerned for Eastern Ukr, do not even consider them Ukrainian, nor looking for collaborative peace... shows NATO as aggressors. Helping Ukr winning back the hearts of Donbas ppl over time would have been a peaceful solution rather than bombing the crap out of them. It's just not as simple as good guy vs bad guy comic.

You mean like the U.S., Ukraine, Germany, and France who signed the Minsk I and II Agreements and guaranteed in writing to guarantee the details of those agreements and take actions to enforce that the terms of those agreements were carried out? Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel has recently along with former French President Hollande quite publicly stated that these agreements were a stalling tactic to arm Ukraine and that they never had any intention of abiding by their word. Merkel got a free Doctoral education in East Germany and lobbied Russian officials/Gazprom to do a joint venture with Germany to build the Nord Stream II pipeline to supply cheap NG to German industry to be internationally competitive and to German consumers. It just proves she also among other Western leaders can't be trusted. It's their way or the highway. No compromise or meeting of the minds seems possible to them.

This guest should work for Blinken. He claims Russian defeat is inevitable, even though they are winning and the west is struggling to come up with even 50 tanks and fighter jets to replace the much greater numbers lost. He refers to "Russian imperialism" when the war has nothing to do with Russia wanting to expand their territory. Ukraine had a civil war due to the Donbas people wanting to speak Russian as an official language in a state within Ukraine. This civil war elevated Nazis from western Ukraine in both the military and government as they are both Russopobes and militants and lead in willingness to kill fellow Ukrainians. And due to a pro-western government since 2014 and the presence of Ukraine on Russia's border Ukraine has been getting NATOized. Russia doesn't want NATO on their border and in recognition of such the USA once promised Gorbachev that they wouldn't move NATO "one inch east" in trying to get him to agree to reunite Germany. It is unlikely Ukrainian people are confident they will defeat Russia. They know how many have died, and they are doing the dying. Unlike the leaders, including the t-shirt/sweatshirt wearer at the top who continually forces the military to hold untenable positions and take large casualties (current example is Bakhmut) right up until the last minute or past the last minute. Democracy Now hosting war mongers. The merger of neocons and Democrats is complete. They should be called neolibs now.

Don't confuse it with stupidity, though; it's his personality (-disorder) that makes him seem like a clown. He's intelligent enough to be dangerous, as those who have underestimated him have discovered. I think all politicians have a superficial veneer of "good intentions". Nobody is a villain in their own minds. Often, they'll act entirely cynically, but even then they'll be telling themselves it's for "the greater good". Sometimes, they're even acting "idealistically". I put those terms in quotes, because their ideas about what's good shifts, depending on what's expedient. They'll be superficially "sincere" even in changing their ideas, though. Wow. That was a lot of quotes... The point is, they believe their own lies. As a result, I don't think the difference between cynical and well meaning is very significant with politicians. Trump is distinguished mainly by his inability to hide his narcissism, not by being a narcissist. That inability is what many people have picked up on, and confused with honesty. It sort of is, in a very twisted way. It's not a good reason for supporting him, though.
