Stellar customer service as well. I bought (at the time) the last 43mm Essence, a few years ago, and unfortunately it had dirt under the crystal. Couldn't exchange it, but heard directly from the owner. They paid for shipping and they disassembled and cleaned it. Returned it to me in perfect condition with extra straps and a hat and a personal handwritten note of apology from the owner. Amazing. Still one of my favorite watches in terms of value for pricing. I really love the personal touch that comes from these independent brands.

I also got an Opphav, the blue one. The dial texture, the finishing and the very original caseback are all very nice. There are some alignment issues between the indices and the minute chaptering in my watch, but not enough to make me want to return it. I also think the Formex Essence 39 punches above its price, I am not so sure with the Opphav though. Other brands well worth their price are Hamilton and Zelos.

Formex recently had a small price increase. I heard about it and picked up that Essence 39 with the degradé dial. It's an incredible watch that really does compete with the luxury brands above it. Incredibly comfortable, the bracelet catches the light just as well as the dial indices. You're correct the attention to detail is there and the clever engineering is not gimmicky. Beautiful well crafted watch. I'm sure most of their lineup follows suit.

I have bought a number of Formex watches including the rare Grand Prix from the mid 2000's. I continue to get compliments when wearing these watches to present day. The shock absorber system appears to work well and the watches are very comfortable to wear and are very well finished. Great watches and for the money, extremely difficult to beat for the price, and show minimal wear.. I have been wearing Formex for more than 20 years. After several years of watch collecting im driven more and more to the functionality of a watch rather than purely its design and brand recognition. Finding the best watch for the occasion or purpose you need is a joy. For example! Who needs a highly polished diver , which looks fancy but also too "perfect" to get scratched up? I dont. FORMEX does a great job . Their Essence seems like the perfect every day watch that wants to be used! And you dont need to pay 5-8k for a piece you would never allow to get scratched up anyway. These high end luxury watches end up in the watchbox. Only to be worn in a save space. Precious treasures.... I dont want to say, that formex doesn't produce luxury. They do! But they want you to efford it and simply use it. That makes the difference

I think this is the first review I’ve seen that mentioned the on the fly adjustment for the bracelet or any negatives for the deployment strap, well done. I think it looks great but I still struggle to believe the spring system makes a difference, in the video to show it working you moved your wrist down in a position I don’t think anyone ever does unless looking at the side of a watch.

I’ve had my eyes set on an omega, grand seiko or Tudor at some point, but this watch definitely scratched an itch for what I can afford. I wear it more often than most of my collection. It’s a great all around piece.

I have the white dial and absolutely love it. Very enjoyable to wear. Also bought the black rubber strap to switch it up. Wasn't sure the black would look good with a white dial, but there are hints of black in the dial (horizontal grooves and outline of the indicies). It looks so good together. I love the bracelet too, so it really matters on what outfit I'm wearing or where I'm going. I cant believe he complained about the cost, because for the different features, this watch should be double the price. Plus international shipping and tax are added into the price. So happy with my purchase.

I had to stop the video at just less the half mark to say, in all my 20 years collecting watches, not once have nor would have thought or there to ever be possible innovation to what seemingly there to be absolutely no room, no reason to add to what the watch industry had long already personified to be taken to the standard in which we all know a fine timepiece to be. When I think of innovation, a fine watch would be the last on my mind unless a modified enhanced never done before different type automatic movement be created. Never a flex type of case. I like it. Absolutely brilliant. I have always been a dive watch collector having to have a bezel. This piece I would make an exception as it is a very good looking piece. A flexible spring case that isn't visibly noticeable upon seeing the watch yet it works and appears to be subtle but a huge different in comfort. What a great piece to review. Great content Mr Costa. Enjoyed and it's on my list now. Take care. Kashton

After not really considering the brand for a while (Formex sounds like a French 1960’s vacuum cleaner brand name, 43 mm Essence case is too large and I thought the suspension system would be useless, since watches always receive shocks on the dial side) my attention was grabbed by the launch of the 39 mm, which met my criteria for an everyday watch I could also take on a business trip : 37-39 case diameter, white dial, 100 meter min depth rating, push-pull crown, on the fly bracelet adjustment for these hot and humid days, good looks and Swiss Made printed on the dial. Been a pleasure wearing this watch over the past three months and the Sellita caliber hits Rolex specs. 🙏🏻 Moans and niggles : less than 40 hour of power reserve, you need to wear the Essence daily or it will die on you and, in my opinion, few attractive model lines under the Formex name, making it difficult to bond with brand, as you would with Longines for example. The Essence and Essence Leggera are great, but the Reef looks okay at best and the Field is ugly.

I purchased this watch in May and have worn it quite a bit. Fits the perfect everyday sports watch size at 39mm. I have it on the metal bracelet and purchased both the leather and the rubber deployant clasp. I'm not having the same problem you are with the bulge where the strap attaches to the clasp. If you don't make the connection flat along the clasp you get that bulge. Anyway, the watch delivers. The bracelet is beautiful, the ability to quickly change straps gives it an added bonus. The workmanship is superb. Look at the fine finishing of the small screws, the case back and the suspension system. All works great. The suspension system is an added bonus during those hot and humid days where I live. Definitely worth what paid for here.

Very interesting. The grey fume has a lot of depth and it's difficult to point at anything that really doesn't work in the design, and yet I struggle to connect o an emotional level with what I'm seeing. I wonder if that would be different in person. I also wonder about the long-term maintenance of such a suspension system, which moreover I have never felt I needed or was so restricted in my movement from wearing a watch. I would love to have your opinion on the Horage Autark, especially the Jura version. Should they ever offer that to you! I've not seen a single review or owners picture of that watch. I'm somewhat behind on affording myself such expense, but it's another Swiss micro in the smart sport watch space that certainly has my attention. The pearl Omnium Gen 2 also looks great in my opinion, alongside a rather unusual metro dialed model, too.

Are there any watches without those irritating brand names displaying all over the watch faces??? I don't like to be forced selling things for others , and not being paid for it...

Start your own watch company and do that 😅

Formex sounds like a subscription medication, not a beautiful watch. I can't get past the name.

Peter you talked about everything other than the aesthetics. It is a very well made but an ugly watch.
