My daily wear . Classic less is more, beautifully uncomplicated . Can’t agree about moving up the ladder for the wow factor , I’m lucky enough to own four this is by far my least expensive and quite possibly my favourite. If you wish to be a flash Harry then this probably isn’t for you . Timeless elegance that will serve as a fantastic daily wear then it’s superb..

That’s why I went with the 36mm in white because the double hour markers and the numerals around the minute track give it a little more sporty feel while adding a splash of character to the design.

Its a classic in the same context as a speedmaster. Its not a simple watch design on the contary. As a draughtsman of thirty years and lets include the ten years training prior to that, I appriciate the difficulty of communicating something to the eye quickly and with the least amount of information. When something is right it has often had to go through many iterations. There is a saying that if it looks right it is right. This is to the eye. The white face in particular is probably the easiest watch face to read on the market. The relative size of the indicies and hands. I wanted one of the privious grey face of the smaller case size with ghe silver face but I feel that these two have been held back abd they are in fact a problem for rolex. They quite literally outshine so many others watches in the line up. Probably why you cant find one. I would love to met the designer and shake his hand. A first class job.

@@JerseyLostRingMetalDetecting Interesting. Last week I just did what you did -- I bought the OP (39mm, black). It was certified pre-owned by a very reputable jeweler. I'm very happy with it. I figure if in a few yrs I get the itch for an Explorer I'll merely sell my O.P. and put that towards an Exp. But right now I love my decision, my girlfriend actually always liked the OP better than the Exp when I'd show her various pics of the two side-by-side. Again, I absolutely love my new OP.

It just look classy. Very clean balance dial. I'm glad Rolex came out with these two options in 2018. Rhodium and Blue are nice also but the blue and green dots...besides the hands blends with the face making it difficult to see the time.

No white dial on the Explorer. Also doesn't have the white gold crown at twelve. Really it comes down to a matter of taste.

A few mos ago I acquired my first ever 'top of the line' (Omega, Rolex, etc.) watch. I'm a middle class guy and can only afford to do this once in a great great while. That said, I went with this OP, 39mm with a black dial. Love it.

I think the simplicity is what makes it so cool ... I go back and forth between the explorer and this one ... I just got a tag formula 1 it’s the most expensive watch I’ve ever bought but I’m getting a Rolex next.... fuck it you only once

The only down side for me is on the buckle, the Rolex logo is stamped and not applied. Other than that it’s perfect to me

@@10digitpin I think more important than the raised logo, is the lack of the adjustment on the oysterclasp. Not a deal-breaker for me, but some may find it a pain.

The one Rolex model I really considered buying (at MSRP). There is an understated elegance to these models. I never liked Rolex, but I did like these references. Sadly, I had no idea how crazy the demand was for Rolex. After a 2-year search, I gave up. Luckily, I found another brand that had a similar classic design and at 5% of the retail price (which one cannot get).

This is the best Rolex watch. The only thing wrong with then is that they sit at the bottom of the Rolex pricing hierarchy so don't get the respect they deserve.

I’ve a Submariner and a few other watches from other luxury brands. I’ve often considered purchasing Datejust however I’ve two Omegas in this category and weighed my options. I’ve no inclination of trading watches but rather adding to my collection and may one day purchase a Day-Date in silver. I’d considered this very watch and then considering that it would be a daily watch I weighed it against a Tudor 1926. I’m not into labels but the art of watchmaking and I’m practical. I respect Tudor as well but frequently feel that many Tudor buyers hope one day to buy a Rolex. Considering the time in Rolex history that this series was reintroduced and its cost weighed against the Tudor I’d dare say that given its price, power reserve and that the 1926 can be obtained with or without a date function for a few thousand less, this might be the first Rolex to leave its owner yearning for a Tudor.

It needs a date function. But then it would sell better than the Datejust. Rolex would never allow it, just as Porsche would never put their best engine in the Boxster because then it would be faster than the 911.

The biggest knock IMO is lack of a domed crystal ; a flat crystal that simply sits on top with protruding edges looks bad.

Two problems . Firstly the video should have been titled - Far away. We can’t see what the watches look like. Secondly they won’t sell like crazy as there are none for sale until next years allocation. As usual Rolex brings out new watches then hardly produce any. My AD won’t have any more until next year surprise surprise. They can sell lots of the uninspiring dials like grape, green or blue.

This watch could be a modern classic sleeper. They are VERY hard to come by, Very few are on the second-hand market, and they are going for more than retail. We could be looking at the next Submariner of the watch world as far as retaining and increasing value.

Where do you get your figures from? Try and find ANY Oyster perpetual at a Rolex dealer on the high street. You will not find any. They are all popular, even the hideous red, green, blue, yellow and silver ones..
