The man was king of camp, .....highly talented, and very funny,..... Up Pompeii was the perfect comedy vehicle to express his wonderful double entendre and saucy innuendo,....he was a polished performer, and a naturally funny man , and his unique talents are still missed to this day....

The WIllie Rushden bits are much more miss than hit: the rest of the show's hilarious though!

Thank you so much for uploading these. I remember seeing them as a kid, when they were first broadcast. I’m sure it was simply Frankie Howard’s personality that kept me enthralled, as I can’t imagine that I understood the innuendos when I was only 6 or 7 years old. Incredible to think that when these were first shown, The Beatles were still together.

I was 11 or 12 when these were on telly, back in the day when we had a choice of three channels only, BBC 1 and 2, and regional ITV. Usually all my friends saw the same telly as I and everyone else back then. Such was the humour of the day.

Love Frankie Howerd. He's absolutely hilarious and definitely one of the greatest at 4th wall breaking. If it wasn't meant to be a comedy though I would be asking how he's quoting Shakespeare over a thousand years before it was written 🤣🤣 and now for the prologue 🤣

Great script, excellent performers, a scream from beginning to end, except for the cameos by William Rushton.

Frankie Howerd might have been an Ouger mugger but this is by no means a certainty.
