Tragic to think this type of humour is regarded as unacceptable today. It was harmless and never taken seriously.
@deathofasalestacticАй бұрын
it's unacceptable not because it's potentially harmful, it's unacceptable because it's cheesy and lame by todays standards. if you find it funny that's fine but I'd rather watch Curb Your Enthusiasm or Harry and Paul

Feet up, cuppa coffee, and half an hour’s time travelling back to the wonderful yet much maligned seventies What a pick me up that was ( sounds like a good name for a show! 😊) - The brilliant Frankie Howard plus a wonderful supporting cast inc the gorgeous Elizabeth Larner and Lynda Baron - all just having fun and making us smile for a lost innocence When everyone says they don’t make stuff like this anymore they really mean it, and mores the pity 😔 RIP Frankie and co and thank god for you tube!

I watched this as a kid, so was excited when my parents got free tickets from the BBC to watch a show being recorded. Sadly the tickets arrived too late for us to use them, as we had intended stopping off in London on our way home from our summer holidays in Cornwall. We had left home about 2 weeks before the show date and found the tickets in the pile of mail when we arrived home. I was very annoyed .. it might even have been me who had applied for the tickets.

Sometimes it's best to leave the stage with the audience wanting more. (Fawlty Towers anyone?) "Last of the Summer Wine" was a classic case of "flogged to death" IMHO. The original series' with Compo, Clegg & Blamire were excellent & it was a huge success for many years after that, but when Bill Owen (Compo) died, it was perhaps worth one more series. It just went on too long after that. My opinion only.
