Nice. I need to back through your older vids. Seeing learners learn is maybe better than watching a goat try to remember what beginning trails was like. I’ve been focused on rolling on and over, skinnies, and trackstand. Been holding off on much rear wheel but just recently trying to hop backward on the rear after placing my front on a box. Pedaling up to rear wheel scares me still since I’m so good at up to looping out onto my back.😢

That’s why I made my only real tutorial on my channel. It’s from about 3 years ago and it’s called something like “Back tire hops for beginners.” I figured there might be some value in sharing what worked for me as someone who had just learned how to do it. Good luck!

When you say "popping" is there a pedal kick involved or are you just hopping on the rear? Hope this question makes sense. Great video!

Thank you! There is a pedal kick involved in back tire hop, but not the rest of the techniques shown in this video. I didn’t go back to check this, but I believe when I referred to “popping” I was talking about popping your front wheel up, which is just done by moving your weight back to unweight your front tire and pulling your bars back.
