How do you make sure you are not dragged by the wind too far?

Well, you have to check the wind conditions before you fly. I usually fly against the wind first so it's pretty easy to come back home. Full OSD support with GPS is mandatory. If you're flying above a closed cloud cover (not the best idea) then INAV OSD map feature is good for orientation.
