If you’d be willing to try some older country, specifically country having to do with this topic, you should give Henson Cargills song “skip a rope” a listen. It’s a song about how kids are learning bad behaviors from their parents. Check out the lyrics here of the second verse: “Cheat on your taxes, don't be a fool Now what was that they said about a golden rule? Never mind the rules just play to win AND HATE YOUR NEIGHBOR FOR THE SHADE OF HIS SKIN” The song hit #25 on the top 100 country songs. The year was 1968.

I grew up a white boy on the rez (reservation) in Oklahoma. I had one black friend growing up and a whole bunch of natives back in the 90s. We sang every lyric snoop ever dropped and flew the confederate flag at the same time. We were a bunch of poor kids who didn't have nice things or anything to do so we made fun of each other. If you had feelings that day they got hurt and then you got over it. We all dressed the same, hung out in the same places, listened to the same music, and told the same jokes. We were black or white or native. We were friends. We made fun of what we couldn't change and worked to change what we could. We all still talk, still make the same jokes, still laugh and love, and we are still people. These are country values.

@@whydoyouneedtoknow3322 i did history in UK 50 years ago so its not modern ideas i hold lol. There were a lot of mixed reasons. State powers were a big one. The tipping point for seccession was probably slavery. That was the politicsl aspect. Those who commanded the South's armies were not huge slave owners. And outside UK and northern states slavery was still pretty common (read about Britain's war on slavery) . States rights were a major issue but the slavery issue was the tipping point, confederate leaders said that. But most fought not for slavery but for their states. If you read the writings of the soldiers (generals to privates) they talked about fighting for Virginia (Or their state) not for slavery. The problem was that a mainly rural area depending on mass unskilled labour was opposed to a mainly urban area which didn't need unskilled unpaid labour. It wasn't morals it was economics that pushed the north and south into opposition to the death. That said slavery is indefensible, and it became the issue and in some (repeat some) areas it was.

Second... As a tattoo artist in Las Vegas for over 20 years , I’ve put the rebel flag on countless people. I am mixed; my birth mother was Black , my father was German Irish Hungarian and Greek. I was adopted from birth by a white family, and spent the majority of my childhood in Hawaii, where the whites are the minority. I came to Vegas in 91, in the wake of the Rodney king riots. My fam comes from the Midwest , those are the values I’ve been instilled with and I got no beef with upchurch. Love the dude! Funny asf. Not a hateful bone in the man . All i can say is that as far as hate goes ... of all people I quote Friedrich Nietzsche(haha) they that fight with monsters, should look to it that they themselves do not become a monster. Anyone out there fighting the big racism monster, if your doing it with hate , you are no better than the one your fighting. Only way racism has power is if you acknowledge it’s power. I don’t know why this shit is so big now . Fuck racism , can’t we all move on together as a human race? If we did , I think the tiny population of people who are racist would be left behind a fizzle out. It’s a buzzword now and don’t mean shit to me .

The reason they all apologizing though is because their afraid of this cancer called cancel culture. It’s getting out of hand and it’s actually somehow very powerful and it’s sad
@2491kridge3 жыл бұрын
Cancel culture is literally destroying this society, I know that eventually the pendulum will swing too far and people will push back and it will swing back, but unfortunately I fear that at that time it will be too late. As the old saying goes “first they came for my neighbor and I said nothing.” The chickens will eventually come home to roost for these people when cancel culture comes for them, it doesn’t matter how woke you are, you are never woke enough to evade the cancel culture mob. As Tom Macdonald once said “the whole worlds been left leaning, I’m proud of the right that fight back.” And right now wether left right or center we all need to come together with one voice and say fuck this cancel culture shit, critical race theory horse shit, and modern gender theory insanity. We need to regain normality in this damn country, and the western world as a whole. Do you see places like China, Russia, and Iran following this same insane path that we are? No, because their leaders are playing the long game and are raising a generation of strong people, while our society is destroying our up and coming generation. Im just so fucking sick and tired of hearing about racism and gender and cancel culture and all this nonsense yanno.
@tswitch863 жыл бұрын
@@2491kridge lol I feel ya bro, unfortunately a lot of people say we need to do something, very few people do anything. The powers that be realize we may bitch and complain but we will still take what we get. Anyone who does fight back, in one way or another, is labeled something.. terrorist, racist, insurrectionist, or if they try to protest with their voices they are silenced, mocked, and turned into the new villain. There is only one way this ship turns around, the odds are not good, and it is nothing to hope for. I pray for the next generations, my children and their children, to find a way to fix all of our mistakes.

Cancel culture is marxism the pathway to socialism and communism. It works by pinning people against each other by race, age, gender, religion, wealth and so on, it's divide and conquer tactics. My grandpa sadly passed away 4 years ago now and I completely relate to Upchurch, The rebel flag is a warm blanket for me it’s very nostalgic cause it reminds me of a time my grandpa was still around I’d do anything to hear that mans voice again. They lived next to some black folks my whole life so I essentially grew up around them they were always excited when I was there and I was always excited to see them and my family we’d always hang out just doing things country kids do😂 They had a rebel flag in their garage it was never anything bad to us... I’ll always respect my elders I don’t fly it to spark controversy me and you are a lot alike I’ve had some old people confront me on the one I fly off my truck and after speaking with me for a little bit we really have a genuine respect and appreciation for each other, The flag means a lot to me but just like you I need to hear both sides of the story conversation is important man you might find yourself seeing you in people you’d have no idea we’re alike you (Btw I don’t fly it normally I fly it when we go up to the dunes in our trucks) You’re such a cool dude I had to drop a like and sub looking forward to normally watching you now. and to add to it, the rainbow pride crowd basically flaunt it, and then tell you it's their way of life and you'd better accept it and be "inclusive"... whereas us southern folk don't care if anybody accepts it... we don't need anybody to accept it because WE accept it and we don't need to be included into anything solely upon what we represent. we include ourselves among ourselves. we wanna go to a mud bogging event? cool, let's show up with the biggest one we can find flying high from our trucks, I'm sure everybody will love it because mostly everyone there is from the south. speaking from true events, we did this at an off road park in palatka, FL and wound up on their website under their most famous videos. truck was a pile of garbage Toyota and we burnt the clutch up in it that weekend. fun times.

In fact, there are many textbook accounts of the North being FAR more racist than the South, even IN the time of slavery. Look, this isn't directed at you, Christian, sorry if it seems like it was, I'm just trying to get this off my chest, and your post was the perfect opportunity to reply from, I don't care what you think, what you believe, I'll let you do you, but you better return the respect I just paid you and leave me be to MY heritage, MY beliefs (And I 100% agree with MLK's vision of judgement on character, not race, so I'm not a racist; I like all races equally.). The “flag” was a military unit flag, a variation was used in pirate ships. When the evil Democrat KKK used it is when it changed for some. I agree it is a culture thing for us Southerners. I love you, your heart and mind. Country music was started just like you said.
@ebogar423 жыл бұрын
The KKK were conservatives dumbass. You are spinning the history. It's a racist cultural thing. After the KKK made it popular it was used during the civil rights era as a hate symbol and put up at capitols. It's a racist fucking symbol. If you don't know that you need to do some research and look at thousands of pictures of whites using it in a racist way.
