In today's DIY Wednesday video I am going to show you how you can take a free road-side furniture find, or a cheap thrift store find and turn it into something that goes with your style and decor. All you are going to need is some paint and new hardware! In just one weekend you will be able to turn someone else's trash into your treasure. OH C'MON!!! YES... beautiful. Love it. I picked up 4 ladder chairs from the side of the road. Heavy. I distressed, tore out the tattered woven seats and restrapped them. Then sold them, lol. Need alot of space for these chairs, like a big ass farmhouse kitchen! Any way I enjoyed the project. I've also redid a buffet and very old (Shaker style?) sideboard in chalk paint and stained the tops in a gorgeous, dark cherry wood. Yummy! The sideboard I distressed, both have varnished wood knobs. I watch Kasha as well. You did a great job, and the new knobs knock it out of the park!!❤😊

What a great idea…. I have a similar piece I bought several years ago with the full intention of painting it…. But never had the guts to do it…. You just gave me inspiration! Thanks Sheri! Side note: keep the original hardware in a bag inside one of the drawers, maybe in several years someone else might want to bring the piece back to its original “look”. 😉

@yadiracastellon - YAY! That is exactly why I made this video...to inspire everyone like you that has been sitting on a piece of furniture, but has not yet pulled the trigger on re-finishing it. The best part is...it's just paint. If you don't like it after the first try, you can just paint over it...no harm, no foul. :) And while I don't think I will ever get rid of this piece, I did save the original hardware...if not to put back on this piece one day, maybe for something else down the road. But yes...I love your idea of keeping the original hardware in a bag in one of the drawers...that way you always know where it is. :)

looks really good Sheri. I'm so glad those drawers didn't stick shut...but nothin a light sand and rubbing a wax candle on the drawer runner wont fix. i love the restraint you showed for this piece...it called for it since it has such simple lines and sleek hardware. Respect the bones of the piece!

@Rhondas_Flippin_Life - Tell me about it. My paint shelf is overflowing with gallons of paint that have been sitting there for 3 years. That's why that mixing wand thing is so great...you can't shake an old gallon of paint enough to get it to blend back together.

Painting tips: Put a plastic bag over your paint tray so it always stays clean and put your rollers and brushes inside a plastic bag and into the freezer between coats and until you are finished a job and ready to switch colours.

@jefftackett282 - Clearly peach and orange aren't some of your favorite colors...but they are mine and I would hardly call them "awful". This is a piece that I am re-doing for me. If you redo a piece for you...thankfully, you can choose a color that you think isn't awful. The color you choose might not be my favorite, or anyone else's favorite...but as long as you like it, that's all that matters.

@jefftackett282 - Wow...hate and sloppy? Those are pretty strong words and not the words that I would have chosen to describe this piece...but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I get that this makeover might not be your exact vibe, but I think you are missing the plot of this video. While you may not like how I re-finished this piece for me and my style, the point of this video was to inspire and show you (and others) how you can take a free piece of furniture, that might have otherwise ended up in the trash, and transform it into something that fits your own style with very little time and effort. I in no way was saying that this is exactly how you should re-finish your piece of furniture. Just because it is my style, doesn't mean it is everyone's style, and I know this. It's too bad that you were so focused on the "sloppy paint job" that you missed that.
