*Update!* Brookstone Weather Forecaster Still Works!

In the previous video I had mentioned how I thought this device was on its way out because of how it was malfunctioning. Not long after posting that video, I started getting comments saying that others with this device were experiencing something similar. So I decided to wait it out.
Then come today, I check my channel while on lunch break at work and saw I received a number of comments saying their devices were back up and running. I got home later in the day, and sure enough, mine is one of them as well!
Thanks to all of you, you prevented me from prematurely getting rid of this! Sometimes it's a good idea to not assume too quickly.

That's awesome it came back up! That is one thing though, that can be concerning for the future. If they shut off the service permanently, it will basically be bricked. This of course is true of anything that has a technology service attached to it to make it work. Voice assistants come to mind. And in fact, a few months ago, there was a major Amazon server outage and Alexa seemed to have amnesia. Once it was corrected, everything started working again.

Oh yeah I always have that on my mind about technology and such these days. I guess that can happen when stuff advances so fast, even compared to 2010. Hopefully this can keep going for a while longer.

Well keep in mind that a packet switched network that's full duplex is not designed and guaranteed to be a solution.

@@yalekthelembine0391 It never was. What did work, practically all of the time, was old copper phone lines that were analog. With today's VoIP systems, they strive for 99.999% uptime.

Thanks! My Brookstone weather station performed just as you described - quit day by day until caput. I figured that the service was gone for good. I was shopping for a new one when I found your video. I fished mine back out of the trash and it is back working same as yours. Fingers crossed they keep the service going - I really like mine as well.

Mine also just came back to life on 9/9/2022 @ noon. I was shopping for a new unit and had the old unit on my desk. I thought I'd give it one more try and BAM it is back to normal after not working for over two weeks! Thanks for the video !!

The current temperature on mine is stuck. Anyone replace theirs? What is the closest replacement for this that shows about 4 days forecast like this one? Also battery powered & magnetic to stick on refrigerator like this one.

Glad you were able to mention me. It was exactly a network outage. Jsyk, specific details about this device: This transmits in the 900 Mhz ISM band. 902-928. It is also the 33cm band for ham radio. So, perhaps this network of ISM devices from a base station ended up being broken and then fixed. They are not at all cellular 4g or 5g nonsense. They are all proprietary modulations in the form of a nuisance signal term called SCADA.

brookstone is one of the high end brand, we used to have a brookstone store in our local shopping mall back in the 90s, i bought a fan from there back then but i no longer have it today

Around September 1 the data on mine also stopped updating, but (like everyone else), it fortunately came back to life! I was so relieved because I have had this 5-Day Forecaster for longer than I can remember and absolutely LOVE (depend) on it. During the days it was out I started a frantic search to find a comparable replacement, and was really shocked to find that there is nothing like this anymore. Now I’m really concerned about what I would do if this thing actually ever stops working. Has anyone else found anything that would suffice (other than just looking at the weather apps on the phone)?

It seems like my Weather station is starting to fail again. The temperature has been “stuck” on current temperature 37 feels like 28 for several days now. Then this morning, Wednesday does not have weather data at all. Any one else having trouble? Thanks.

I am in Texas and mine stopped updated a few days ago. I reset it this morning and now it shows nothing. I’m hoping that it is just like before, they are doin an update to the service. I changed the batteries, reset again, and have left it on the patio table hoping fir good reception. I hope it comes back up soon, I really rely on it.

Yeah it seems to be intermittent. It happened once before, and then came back a day later. I seem to have an issue now as well. Can probably just wait it out.

I didn’t see this comment so I added my own comment a few hours ago about noticing a problem this morning and that Wednesday (day # 5) shows 0s for the high and low temperatures and no icon. It will be interesting to see if tomorrow the last two days show this same information, and so on until all days are like this - just as it did back in September. Anyway, I LOVE my 5-Day Forecaster and will wait it out, keeping fingers crossed that the problem resolved itself again!

Hi. Have you started having any problems again? Right now Today through Tuesday (Nov 26-29) show what looks to be valid information, but the only information for Wednesday (day #be 5) is 0 over 0 degrees and no icon. I wonder if this will be like back in September where each day eventually had 0s for the high/low and no icons. Fingers crossed this resolves itself quickly! (I see you’re set for Hartford, CT - I’m New Haven, CT.)

Mine was stuck on a temperature for a couple of days recently, but it still seems okay now.

Manchester, NH here. Batteries were low, so I changed them. Said network found, but several days later, it's still waiting for the data.

Low batteries, replaced them, said network found, got my weather restored, but, am still waiting for the time display to start working. And the "Updating Indicator" at the top of the display has blinked "Updating" for the last 2 days.
