I can help explain what the DLSS DLL file does. DLSS stands for Deep Learning Super Sampling which basically means (AI driven supersampling. DDL stands for dynamic link library (in short a library of functions that the super sampler uses). Because Nvidia uses AI for it's super sampler, it's constantly training this AI and making incremental improvements to it both in performance and quality. Unfortunately for us, the DLL files containing the improvements are not part of the actual graphics driver but instead are stored in the application folder. This is designed this way so that developers have completely control over which version of DLL their games will use (in case a particular update could break their game). So by downloading the most up to date version of the DLL files, you're basically using the most recent training for the ai and for the most part are going to see improvements to both quality and performance. I would however always recommend you backup the one you see in the sim's folder before you override it just in case.

First lil trick I have tried that actually nets some results. Went from 35 to 45-50 frames at Tampa ITL addon which is always unfriendly airport for frames, me anyways. Lost some of the hanging when turning my head using TrackIR. Thanks for the tip. Oh yeah, Im still using an I9-9900k with a 4080 tho, always bottlenecked by CPU. Every little bit helps.

I was going ballistic why the frame generation was not working on my new 4070 laptop. There was no difference using dlss settings in the simulator. I downloaded the new g file as you described. The current version in the SIM was 1.01. after updating it and using the dlss settings. What a world of difference. Works great. Thanks

I ran into this explanation and I'm glad I did. I usually fly the JustFlight Bae146-300 which gives me a framerate of a little less than 60 fps on the ground and about 65 when in the air. This update pushed the fps to 68 and 78 respectively. My PC specs: i7-13700f, 32 GB DDR4, Nvidia RTX3060 and a 1200x1980 monitor refresh rate 60 per second. Thanks for sharing!

Really lame question but I need help.I can't find that content folder on my PC at all. I searched on my C drive for/XboxGames but that folder empty. I also searched on the drive I have the sim installed but that is empty too. I can find the packages & community folder no issue but not the /XboxGames/MicrosoftFlightSimulator/Content

Thanks for sharing this with the community. Technically this did also work for me if I only compare the DLL versions when running DX12. However I still get notably better performance if I stick with DX11. I'm running an RTX 3080, i5 13600KF and 32GB DDR4, running at 5120x1440 before DLSS drops the res then up-samples it. I ran some tests at a busy airport under identical conditions, and got: DX11=47FPS, DX12 (old DLL)=31FPS; DX12 (new DLL)=43FPS. That was with DLSS Balanced but I saw similar delta with the other DLSS presets.

You're limited by CPU. What you can do (if you haven't) is turn Core Isolation off, and you'll see a lot less 'limitation' and a lot more fps. I personally prefer the security that it offers, because I do software development too on my pc, but if I was a content creator, I'd definitely have it on while playing the simulator at least. What i didn't get was: on the end of the ciseo you show us that with TAA you also got the 40ish FPS. I only use TAA cuz of the blurriness on displays. Updating this DLSS also help TAA?

I didn't see any gain doing the DLSS updates, but I also changed my setting to DX12. That made a world of difference, not so much in FPS, but what an improvement in the graphics quality. I had tried DX12 in the past but I had nothing but problems. At the same time I was playing around with the DLSS updates, I also updated my 4080 to driver 546.17, so I don't know if that did something for DX12 or what was going on but whatever changed, it worked for me.

they updated the DLL in SU14B, but the FG DLL is the same so u have to update that manually if ure ever on a 40-series card.

I found I needed to switch from DX11 to DX12 mode before I saw an increase. I'd always got really bad results with DX12 (like 60% of the fps of DX11) but this seems to have fixed that and I saw an increase of around 20%

Hey thanks for the video. I cant seem to find my content folder. All thats in my xbox games folder is the GameSave folder. I have my sim installed on a gaming ssd, i looked there. Nothing in the xbox game folder. So i looked in my C drive. That one also has a xbox folder with the "GameSave" folder. No flightsim folders in either of them. I also searched for the specific .ddl file and no dice. Stumped. Bought game on ms store.

Hey, thanks for this info. Running a Ryzen 7 5800X3D and RTX 4070TI GPU I was not impressed with the 28 FPS I was getting. After watching your video, I checked the files in question in my system and found they were dated to the year 2010. I went and found the updated versions of those files ( nvngx_dlss_3.5.10 and nvngx_dlssg_3.5.10 ). Installed the new files and now I get at KJFK 79 FPS with all settings at Ultra using DLSS and DX12.

No, it's algorithmic. It doesn't use machine learning, so nobody's releasing improved training data periodically.

As everyone on the channel I did tried it and for my surprised, it worked... but, I do have one question, will this work even if within the Sim we don´t choose DLSS as ANTI-ALIASING? I´ve noticed that with DLSS or no DLSS the FPS´s numbers are exactly the same if I choose the cockpit view of the Fenix A320 (the heaviest plane on the sim for me) , but they drop about 10 FPS´s on the Exterior view of the plane. Hey, it should be in the folder where you flightsimulator.exe file is. It seems to be in different places depending on Store or Steam. Whatever you do, do NOT try and get into the WindowsApps folder, you can apparently really mess up your PC if you make edits in there. Try looking around wherever your Packages folders are.

You got lucky bud! With my 3080Ti and 9700K any DLSS file above 2.5.1 was a disaster!!!!! (Just like everyone was telling you!) Worst performance I ever seen. Went back to 2.4, (the default MSFS2020 DLL file as of this date) or even 2.5.1 works just fine though. Keep the recommendations coming though, MOST from you DO work, thanks:)

Hey buddy, that’s odd, I have the exact same GPU. I think you meant to say 3.5.1 was a disaster for you? One thing that truly mystifies me is how two people with the exact same setup can get different results. I will never understand it. I did have one person for whom 3.5.1 was a mess and 3.5.0 worked just fine. 🤷‍♂️ Maybe with a try? But I appreciate you letting me know, it helps others for sure.

Actually after more testing, I think I figured out the real culprit; rolling cache was full at the same time and created the stutters, was just a coincidence. Strangely though, the lower DLL versions hid the problem more then any version above 2.5.1; go figure, LOL!!! Now about to try my new 7800X3D/Mobo/Gen 5 SSD and DDR5 setup, (but still the 3080Ti for awhile longer to see what new GPU's come out from AMD end of year.) My old 9700K was a huge bottleneck for this title, plus only PCIe 3.0 for the GPU. Interesting to see what difference it makes. (Before I invest another $1K+ on a GPU, ouch!) @@IslandSimPilot

After the update it did have maybe 5-10 fps more on average and felt a lot smoother, but as soon as FSLTL traffic loaded it went back to where it was... it did feel smoother though when panning around without stutters, just the fps was about the same after FSLTL kicked in.

there is a program called dlls swapper that kinda makes things easier - IDK if anyone has already mentioned this as I did not look through all the comments - you can choose which version of dlss to apply

Amazing. I Just checked my steam install location for this file and it's version 2.4.12 and comes back to date 2022-09-21 so I tried the one you mentioned. I run a 14900K with G.Skill 64GB DDR5 8400Mhz memory and an EVGA 3090Ti 24GB card and this increased my frame-rate by 15FPS average. The simulation runs so much smoother now as well, particularly at big airports when the card is having to render large amounts of objects. Here's another interesting thing, the utilization of my GPU is now higher, it's being utilized as much as it is when I play Cyberpunk 2077 which is about 95 to 97 percent. Do you think Microsoft/Asobo would deliberately cripple older generation cards to simply help Nvidia sell the 40x series? Thanks for such a fantastic and informative video. Subscribed!

No, this is a file that's distributed with the game. It gets updated when Asobo tests a new version and updates what they're shipping with the game. It's very common for software to ship with known-good versions of DLLs.

i would try something called dldsr. For me it looks great at 2880x1620 but some say it is fuzzy. the blur on the pfd is much less and the game runs smooth . worth a shot

I set up for maximum work for the GPU to check this out. 4K monitor with 2.27 (5760 x 3240) resolution. 400 & 200 LoD and everything at max ultra. Mostly GPU (3080) limited at 11 fps. Updated the file and now at 17 FPS. Latency halved still at 180ms. GPU constant 99% utilisation. Switch back to 4K 100 & 100 mostly CPU (5800X3D) limited at 30FPS. GPU 85% utilisation. Latency 70ms.

I bought a 4070 for my 5 year old i7 8086k CPU. Effect--> steady 60 fps allways with all set to ultra due to frame generation No .dll file moving, no DLSS stuff... Just DX12 and Framegenerarion

This really works. I thought it was nonsense but I tried it anyway, since I'm always looking for an edge in fps. I tried it last night. I have DLSS3, but for some reason it turned out my MSFS only had v2.4 installed, even though I had Frame-Gen on. Anyway, I used the app, installed v3.1-something to the sim, now I straight up have 90fps flying out of La Guardia. An improvement of 25% to about 100% depending on what's going on. I cannot believe the improvement I got from it. This one tip improved my fps in the sim enough that it's essentially like I got a new, upgraded GPU.
