Doing the 2010s to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of The History of Rock and Roll is understandable. Makes total sense. This series is really educational and a lot of fun. That's great! The times from 2015 to 2017 are very sad unfortunately. The deaths of some many greats like Lemmy, Scott Weiland, David Bowie, Chuck Berry, Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington among many more. Very sad to see them all go.

King Gizzard are well worth looking into as a prolific rock band throughout the 2010's I'd also include Mdou Moctar, and I think it would be worth talking about Bandcamp as a whole and how its really allowed smaller artists to find a home against the harshess of mainstream music outlets/lables
@kingjohnny43147 ай бұрын
King gizzard is definitely the band you want to talk about for the 10s. Other good bands would be cage the elephant, tame impala, greta van fleet, etc. i would say the 10s was a revival for rock as theres alot of good music out! Cant wait for it!

Hi JT, only recently found your channel. History of Rock n Roll is the greatest thing on KZbin and you certainly did put a lot of work into the Pink Floyd reviews as well as the recent Queen retrospective which I enjoyed immensely. It will be interesting to see if you can find any decent rock from the 2010s! I see a few requests for Camel in the comments - definitely worth including - can send my old vinyl copy of Snow Goose if you need it.

suggestion for summer of prog: long distance voyager - the moody blues. The album is in my top 15 favorite for sure. Speaking of my favorite albums, I’m excited for the elements vinyl release! Elements has been my go to album lately.

Summer of Prog sounds really exciting! A lot of my favorites have already been mentioned in the comments. So, here's a few not mentioned that I think would be worth checking out. Camel - Camel Eloy - Ocean Frank Zappa - One Size Fits All Kansas - Leftoverture King Crimson - Islands Van der Graaf Generator - Pawn Hearts Yes - Drama I know you want to get these on vinyl and some of these might be kinda hard to find (especially the Eloy one, since they're a German band). However, I'd still recommend listening to these any way you can. It just goes to show how much great prog there is.

It's too early to do the 2020s History of Rock and Roll, but if it happens, two highlights of the decade would be The Rolling Stones releasing Hackney Diamonds, their best album they done since Some Girls. The other being Gojira performing at the opening of the Paris Olympics that just happened Friday. The first time a metal band has ever performed at the Olympics. That's going to introduce people to both Gojira and metal if they never listened to them prior to the performance. That's a great highlight. And I'm sure The Beatles Now and Then will also be talked about since this is their final song. So make that 3 highlights to talk about if the 2020s video will happen. I won't be bummed if it doesn't get made. But if it does, these are the 3 highlights to talk about.

I hope to hear more about Muse in the 2010's video. I know they were much bigger in the 2000's than the 2010's, but even if their albums weren't as commercially big during their 2010's, their 3 album tours of the decade are incredible spectacles ESPECIALLY the drones tour. If I were to recommend one album to review, it would be their 2001 album Origin of Symmetry, hopefully it's not too hard to find on vinyl. To be fair though I am not that familiar with many other bands of the past decade so I'll still be curious to hear what you discuss in the video.

Would like to see Dirty Honey in the list of blues rock bands that found success as unsigned artists late in the decade, as well as the Slash/Myles Kennedy collaborations. Might also give nod to the Sound City studio/film/album. And... is djent a genre? Lol! But in that vein, Animals As Leaders is a great band to check out here. Per Summer of Prog - Its not 70s, but also actually 2010s - Steven Wilson's "The Raven That Refused To Sing", engineered by Alan Parsons, is one of the best full out beginning-to-end prog albums I've heard in a while. Not sure if it's on vinyl though...

You can also mention one of the most controversial genres of that time. Incelcore, or e-Punk, it in a way resembled punk, being against the mainstream, and making as many people as mad as possible. It also captured the internet culture of the time, while resembling the roots of punk being counterculture, it was hated by critiques, and it garnered a pretty large audience. It's also low fi, and home made produced like most of punk resembles. It carried the dumb, and saterial lyricism The Ramones carried in the 70's in that period, it's the artists shaking the status quo, and making the punks themselves angry at there shock value, here's a list of artist to cover.
