I hope you included Bring Me The Horizon in this list. They were a huge deal and they mainly blew up in the 2010s. Same goes with Polyphia(never thought a band pkaying instrumental would be listened to by people outside of guitar community and by just casual music listeners. They're like the skrillex of guitar community)

I prefer Saucerful of Secrets over Piper at the Gates of Dawn. The latter is a product of its time and doesn't stand up to multiple listens, whereas the former feels like the true beginnings of The Pink Floyd in an embryonic state. I stand alongside those who defend Corporal Clegg. It's very British in its eccentric tone and might not appeal to many American ears, especially those unaccustomed to that type of humor. The title track is hauntingly beautiful and has an ethereal quality. The band was obviously in search of a sound after losing Syd Barrett and thankfully this was an era that allowed for experimentation, whereas in another generation they probably would have been dropped by their record label if they failed to find an audience. They were permitted to evolve over the next few albums, gradually developing and refining their sound. This is my favourite period of their history. From Saucerful to Meddle is, my opinion, their purest form and they seemed to be a single unit, before the animosity grew and ultimately consumed them. These albums have their flaws, but it's those flaws that make them so endearing to the true Floyd fans.

I hope Curtis doesn't just talk about pre-2010s bands like Radiohead, Foo Fighters,, Bowie, Modest Mouse, Arctic Monkeys, Weezer, and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. I love those bands, but some awesome new bands came through in the 2010s. Bands like King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Car Seat Headrest, Jeff Rosenstock, black midi, Otoboke Beaver, Nails, Tame Impala, IDELS, Parquet Courts, Alex G, Protomartyr and The Voidz just to name a few of the bigger names. I understand this is a Classic Rock channel but if we talking about recent Rock music, I hope we don't paint it in a bad light just because it doesn't sound like Zeppelin or Floyd anymore. It's going in a new direction, I think far more indie now, but I don't think it's getting bad. Lmao not like I've seen the video yet haha, I'm just so used to rock fans not knowing that there was good music after The White Stripes in 2005. I think the 2020s are even stringer for rock music honestly.

@bigkoby15 сағат бұрын
Trust me there are lots of great bands, I wouldn't say Great Van Fleet is one of them haha. Not a 2010s band, actually more recent than the 2010s but I recommend a band called Geese. They opened for Greta Van Feelt earlier this year actually, and their, new album 3D Country is easily one of the strongest 70s revival/Indie Rock/Art Punk records I've heard and has a real humorous charm to it, you can hear it in the vocal performance and the songwriting. If you like Zeppelin, you should check this out!!!

When Roger Waters was in Hartford, Connecticut while touring The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking he made an appearance at a local rock station and during the interview the dj asked him if there was one Pink Floyd album that he felt never came together. Without much of a pause he immediately thought that Atom Heart Mother was the one album that "deserved to be chucked into the dustbin and never listened to again." I totally disagree with this overly harsh assessment. Whatever its flaws and shortcomings it was a decisive step forward in their evolution and one can clearly see the title track as being a precursor for the magnificent Echoes. Atom Heart Mother is a bit ponderous and doesn't have the otherworldly flow of Echoes. But I have to admit that Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast is my favourite track, although I wish they had downplayed the slurping sounds of cereal being eaten. It's especially gross and obnoxious if you're listening to it wearing headphones. If is a beautiful song. We don't see this of Roger Waters much. I am a big fan of The Body, which contains some incredible songs and very weird instrumental tracks. But I must defend Ummagumma for at least one single song: Grantchester Meadows. I rank it among my favourite of their songs.

I badgered my mother to take me to see The Wall when it was released. I can only imagine what her reacting n was to these grim images, especially the fornicating flowers. I probably enjoyed it because of those grim images and the animation sequences. I don't quite understand why Roger has issues with the lack of humor in the film when the album itself has none. The film dials up the overwhelming sense of gloom and doom, but not a great exaggeration from the source material. You'd think a glum pessimist like Roger Waters would embrace this. Hearing him say that "humor was an important part of his life" made me laugh and roll my eyes. It's sad that his ego became an insurmountable obstacle that separated himself from his bandmates. After giving Rick the boot he set his sights on Nick, and imagine Dave would be on notice. What's ironic is how they've faired in their solo careers and how nothing they've recorded has equaled their earlier works. Without one another the spark that defined the band was gone. If Roger was the musical genius he and others believe him to be he should be cranking out these amazing albums, but his solo albums are mediocre, although there a few outstanding songs to be found. Late Home Tonight and The Bravery of Being Out of Range from Amused To Death is among my favorites. I wish they had released the soundtrack to the film. I do enjoy that version of Mother. I cannot recall the last time I watched it from beginning to end. Even the album is one I very seldom listen to in its entirety. I've outgrown this bombastic pessimism. It might have appealed to me as a teenager but is a drag as an adult.
