Thanks for the info. Although it sucks to even have to update these. I know I’m the typical old guy bitching about this. But it is so aggravating to have this message on the radio before a trip. “It’s a damn radio! It doesn’t need an update! Just play the damn station!” Lol. It’s driving me insane.

Mine is an older unit but these steps still work The biggest thing is to be patient. Mine seemed like it was stuck and not making any progress until about 5 minutes later, it started moving the status bar

having issues with the USB on my Kenwood KDC-X501 - attempted to update the firmware and did everything right - it did not work. Called Kenwood (they sounded like I was bothering them)and they stated there is an issue on their side and I basically got a "too bad" for you. I am seriously having second thoughts about anything Kenwood from here on out..

John Barton im also running into some issues with the usb. i purchased a new 32gb usb stick and for some odd reason it works on and off it will play a song and just stop reading it and say n/a on the screen also have static issues.. Im thinking of updating it but after reading comments im not too sure anymore some saying the sound is out of whack after the update.

On my ddx373 I have the needed files in the root directory. I tried updating but it just gets locked into a loop where the screen says "now checking." It does nothing even if I leave it alone for an hour

Installing the firmware update killed my 9903S. Well killed might be overstating. After the update it only successfully boots up about 1 out of 10 tries so maybe it's just wounded! Sending back for replacement.

Yep. Not that complicated. Plug USB in, hit yes and don't remove power until complete. Multiple calls to Kenwood tech support confirmed that I'm not the only one that has had this problem, and that the head unit needs to be replaced. That said, I really like the head unit and even more so with the enhancements that the firmware update brings. (Better album art when using CarPlay, slightly modified EQ display, clock works, compass works, the loud hiss has been reduced).

No, Navi is done through Garmins website. If I recall correctly it has to be on an SD card though.

i extracted the files in the thumb drive, then there was another rar folder in there. so i extracted them and had the rar file in cause i wasnt sure where to put it... but it worked so its good.

ppage27 I went outside. Turned on the vehicle. The radio lit up then turned off. It won't come back on. I never got a chance to try the upgrade. I'm going to check the fuse that's attached to the battery. I hope that's the problem. Crazy isn't it !!! DNX690HD

Romantic CA i have a 9140 aswell it’s discontinued so you have to type in “dnx9140 updates “ you should find the link easily I just finished downloading let’s see if it fully works though

Same car, same radio.....Android Auto and Kenwood WebLink still sucks and not working. Only reason I bought this trash radio was to have Waze, it's one of the features that doesn't work. Android Auto is junk and useless, once WebLink finally connects it has no use for me. Why the heck would I care about KZbin and Yelp. I really should have done more research on this radio instead of listening to the crackhead at Best Buy. Kenwood used to have such great products.
