I’ve been experiencing major length retention with a weekly blowout routine using my revair and then doing braids or twists with my natural hair. I use a moisturizing leave in and oil to seal everything. I used to get knotless braids like every other month but I stopped that and paid more attention to the health of my hair. My hair length is literally the same as yours. We’re all running into 2025 with healthy, thick, and long hair. 🥳

Yes 🙌 💝, so I’m going to start getting medium sized box braids in my real hair. I don’t like how adding the braiding hair drys my hair out and leaves me with more split ends than I had prior to getting them. I also wanted to post a real time video of my hair, at the stage it’s at now. I’ll continue to post my actual journey. Some people only post once their hair is really long. I want my videos to be encouraging to others, so I’m being completely transparent with my process.

@@Queen._sam_ Yesss, the braiding hair was crippling my natural hair’s density as well. I was moisturizing and washing my hair while in the braids but my hair couldn’t handle knotless braids. Also, I appreciate how honest you are with your journey. I agree with you. Some people wait until their hair is long and then they make a video which I understand to some extent since that’ll boost their credibility. However, it’s nice to see the middle of the hair journey as well. I wish you the best of luck with your healthy hair! And I’ll definitely subscribe to follow along with your journey. ☺️✨

Your hair is about the same length as mine. My hair is sandy brown too. I feel like I’m not retaining length and the amount of braids/installs I’ve been doing isn’t helping out either. In fact, the boho twists I just took out ripped my edges out😢 but I’m focused on taking better care of my hair for now.

I plan to be very transparent on here with my hair journey. I feel like we spend so many years damaging our hair, that once we try to wear our own hair out, we don’t feel as confident because it’s thin. It’s definitely a process, and I’m going to get my hair done in box braids, my natural hair. I’m not adding weave to it. We got this 💝

From my personal experience, that study isn’t true. My mother once had to cut my hair to about 3 inches because it locked up. My hair was down my back within the next 3 to 4 months. One of the main things that’s stopping black women from having long healthy hair is weave and relaxers. I didn’t start having any issues with my hair growing until I started wearing weave. The moment I stopped wearing box braids, my hair started growing again.

Yes, I don’t get relaxers. I don’t want to blow my hair out too much either. I’m getting medium box braids in my natural hair for a bit. Thank you 💝 for your feedback
