mid-50s here...my routine boils down to avoiding "CARDS"- Coffee/Alcohol/Red Meat/Drama & Sugar...EDIT: I am not interested in persuading anyone here to make the choices I have made or to adopt the practices I follow. All I am doing here is sharing what has worked for ME. Do not come for me, do not argue with me (remember I avoid drama), do not try to convince me that I should not do what I am doing that is CLEARLY working for who? ME. When you make the decision you wish to age well you will naturally be guided to what works for YOU. Blessings and Namaste. #Peace

You are beautiful and I am glad that you acknowledged genetics because a lot of people don’t smoke and they drink a gallon of water, dont eat meat don’t drink alcohol and use 500 face creams AND don’t look like you and won’t without surgery or procedures. It makes those of us who did not get those genetics be more apt NOT to compare and feel bad but instead work on obtaining the best we can do with what we were given ❤
@mariemercurius3 ай бұрын
@Mz.M.2757 comparison is a killer. Commit to doing all the healthy and natural things you can to take care of yourself inside and out. And it doesn't have to cost you an arm and a 2 legs . Just because it's pricey doesn't mean it will work miracles. Often less is more. 😊

I started that day consistently taking care of my skin. I never smoked, drink, and lived a drama free life. Now my diet is not the best (at all) so I will say that it is also genetics. I never had bad skin even as a teenager. I have never worn any makeup past eyeliner, mascara, and a little eye shadow, and lip color. Blessed!

Simple, sensible advice. I love what you said about sunscreen because I started using it and my Vitamin D3 levels plummeted over time. I have started reducing my sunscreen use and, at the same time, being cautious in the sun e.g. avoiding it between 10:00 and 15:00.
@farasad-Ай бұрын
There’s some info out there (take it as you will) about sunscreen guidelines being developed for white skin, not black or brown. Gradual, consistent exposure to sun that’s not super harsh seems to have a different effect than spending all your time indoors during the week and then spending hours in the sun full blast on the weekend or while on vacation. 🤷🏽♀️

I’m not surprised that she looks the way she does. I am a year younger than her, and me, and most of my age group friends look pretty much like her. My church members in their 50’s and early-mid 60’s also look youthful. We are Seventh Day Adventists Here are some pointers: - Trust in God - 6-8 glasses of water daily - Plant based diet - whole grain foods - early to bed 6-8 hrs of sleep - Zero alcohol consumption - No smoking, no drugs - no promiscuous lifestyle - Read the Bible daily - Attend church services weekly - walk at least 30 minutes 3-5 times a week - Do sit ups, lunges, squats, and stretches at home - cook your own meals at home - Limit consumption of cakes, ice cream, chips etc - Avoid all makeup - Use a mild facial cleanser, and keep your face and entire body moisturized - Pray, Pray, Pray - Avoid gossip, confrontations, and unhealthy relationships - Manage and embrace your natural hair (no need for wigs, weaves etc etc) - Avoid body modifications (breast implants, fillers, Botox, butt lifts etc, etc) - Love God, love people, be kind, always be willing to help - Build good relationships with your parents and siblings - Find time to laugh and smile **** These are some of the things we do, and people always think we are way younger than we actually are, until we start talking about our grandchildren, and that our kids are in their 30’s+ ****

Your skin is gorgeous. I never thought about steaming so will try that. We are the same age and no one ever guesses my age. My best tip: green leafy veggies and fresh air! I walk alot and park far from any doors at the stores. Fresh air is a healer!

Great video! I am 54 years young and do almost everything that you mentioned. I too do not wear sunscreen and feel that is more healthy not to, than it is to wearing it. I noticed that when I increased my water intake and lessened my sugar intake, my dark circles vanished. Thanks again for the great tips.

You look amazing! I totally agree that genetics play a part in keeping our youthful looks. I'll be 57 next week and even with the benefits of genetics, I make sure that I exercise, eat healthy and try to get as good sleep as possible. We women in our 50s all know about how menopause affects our sleep! 😍

You look amazing! I also have that gene but I also did workout and eat herbs etc growing up so I agree that is very important. Not letting things stress you a lot helps too.

Thanks for sharing. As far as sunscreen goes, you can get a moisturizer with SPF to protect your skin too. Vitamin D is good for us, but too much sun can be damaging.
