Go get a 33" sink. You have come this far, let's not start fudging the cabinets. Too much time and effort went into building and installing them. Just get the correct sink and be done with it. Trying to make a larger sink fit into a smaller opening not doing things the right way. You know it's wrong!
@dustysmoke49965 ай бұрын

He's not fudging on a critical structural part of the kitchen. He's just making an Avery slight adjustment to the aesthetic placement of the cabinetry. Will not be noticed . I had a custom cabinet business. I would rebuild the drawer cabinet to make space for the larger sink. The sink needs support, which is the only issue I can see with your plan. The issue with factory made cabinets is the use of engineered lumber, which doesn't handle water issues. Usually, a standard kitchen sink cabinet is 36" minimum width, for future plans. Good luck with making it work. This is what makes you a craftsman!

It's Ms Hannah's house and you're building it so y'all get to decide what and how it all gets done. My personal preference is for natural finish rather than stain. Contrast is nice but from these videos it looks like there's plenty of that. If y'all hadn't mentioned the sink measurement discrepancy and your solution I highly doubt anyone would ever notice it. That bench in the mudroom is a perfect fit. The desk you made for Ms Hannah when she was 13 is beautiful. The polyurethane yellowing is just patina that adds to the decor. Thank you for sharing this progress update.
@Greg-kj5rr27 күн бұрын
Jeff you're not just a craftsman, you're an "artist" with the quality of your work I knew about the polyurethane too! I KNOW it yellows, but kind of gives a little character to the work, but for counter tops I like the way you've got it done there!! More of a 'natural' looking finish to it, much better looking finish!! Could you use a paint or stain sprayer to redo it if you had to? Might make quick work of it? Would have to clean the sprayer afterwards but much worth the trouble for ease of application? I might consider that for my woodcarving projects in the future!!?? GREAT JOB EITHER WAY JEFF! 👍👍👍 Greg Leonard - Cottage Grove, MN

Jeff, you may already be aware, but these days there are so many top-quality waterborne coatings, including polyurethanes and conversion varnishes, that not only remain water-white (they don't yellow) but also outperform the solvent-based versions in every way, including protection and durability. Polycrylic is a decent product, but the coatings I'm talking about blow it out of the water. You generally have to spray them (or at least they really prefer to be sprayed for best results, though some are said to be brushable), but whether paint or clear finishes I hate brushing anyway. If you need to be finishing countertops, cabinets, millwork, etc. with clear or pigmented finishes in the future, they might be worth checking out. Renner, Milesi, ML Campbell's Agualente, Sayerlack, Target Coatings, General Finishes, Chemcraft, Becker/Acroma, Gemini, and Ilva are some of the brands I'm referring to. Sherwin-Williams has their Kem Aqua line as well.

The six panel doors were originally designed to be the Cross over an open book (Bible). I don't have a picture to share, but loved how it turned out on one of my jobs when we stained the cross a couple shades darker than sun exposure would make it down the road, and then water Poly over the whole door. It was a beautiful yet subtle emphasis on the meaning behind the design and a great result to the natural wood look. If you do decide to go this route, I would love to see your final result! Glad you are healing, Jeff! God bless
