Agree..name Duchess Mae Breez .barn working name...Duchess👑🐴..luv that the filly is a cross with Belgian & Suffolk Punch going to be fascinating to see the filly confirmation as she matures.. quite a interesting combination of 2 different draft breeds..especialy with the Suffolk horse populations being very low.. Hopefully pure bred Suffolk mares will have vacations with baron on the months ahead..With our spotted drafts, percherons & Belgians the Belgians were the kindest, hardest working with the carriages.. blessings for your new filly.

Lady is such a relaxed calm mother, there is something to be said about older seasoned mare having a first foal. Touching and handling the foal right away is important, some people even do quite a bit of imprinting a foal right away when it's born. I think that Brenda and Jim are doing an excellent job with the foal and Lady. It's beautiful to watch 😊

That baby is so adorable and definitely is taking a special liking to Jim . I think it’s pretty cute how Jim is resisting kissing her but I think soon he might give in. She is such a curious, sweet little one. I love how lady is generous with her baby. And having worked around horses, a lot of my life I can confirm it is much more preferable to have a horse socialized . Jim and Brenda always do the right thing.

Jim is never going to kiss her on camera! But he sits on an upturned bucket in the pen, probably for hours, watching, dreaming and planning. Cuddling and imprinting on filly's terms, she comes to him.

It is vitally important to imprint a foal with human contact in those first hours. It makes an enormous difference in their acceptance of humans as a trusted part of the herd. It makes training so much calmer! Congrats to the winners!

I dont imprint and do not interfere in the birth if there`s nothing wrong. I stay away, but nearby and in reach for the next days. Once the mare comes over, then I will pet and play with the foal if she allows. The mother teaches the foal, and she will teach him or her about humans, I don`t worry about it. All the shires we got were done that way, and they are so social even people with horses find them social and well behaved. TL:DR I have no purpose to imprinting in first hours or even first day. I have seen zero evidence of early imprinting with that breed so far. Perhaps other breeds, but I stopped playing with other breeds long time ago

We use to have calves out in the pasture and in about 2 weeks of not having contact with us, they were wild and you couldn't get near then! Brenda has it, name her BRE! That's Short & Sweet!

Oh my goodness yes! I imprinted all of my babies!! They turned out to be such great horses. My mare who is 31 she have me the most beautiful foals and she was so nice and trusted me with her babies! She loved me and she liked the fact that I was so attentive and caring.!

She is so nice and yes I imprinted every one of my foals and they were just more trusting and gentle. She is such a sweetheart and seems to really be taken with you Jim. Brenda get in there and she will love on you too. Don't be shy foals need the stimulation and they are so much easier to handle as they grow. She will grow big pretty fast compared to saddle horses! I like the name Lilly. That's the birthmonth flower for the month of May. I had wanted to name my mule foal Ruth but I didn't figure the neighbor lady across the pasture would appreciate me yelling her name out when I hollered the horses up by name. I named her Sassy but she wasn't. She was a good girl. Oh how I miss my horses. My last one passed 6 months ago.

She died VERY unexpectedly from an internal aneurysm. When they are old and you know you have to give the last act of love to them is a different situation. But to be flying around the field one day and dying the next comes as a shock. I won't live my life without a horse.

I posted this with video #488 with a suggestion for a name. Since you asked for name suggestions in this video, I'm re-posting it here: Congratulations! She's so cute! Glad everything seems to have gone well for Lady. I think you should name her "Mabel", which sounds like the month of May in which she was born. I looked it up and found this: "The name Mabel is primarily a female name of English origin that means Lovable. A very popular name in the late 19th, early 20th century, Mabel was originally a diminutive (short) form of Amabel or the Medieval name Amabilis. It became popular initially from C. M. Yonge's novel, The Heir of Redclyffe published in 1854." Mabel is a good old-fashioned name. At the end of this video when Brenda said "You're a doll!" I though that Dolly would also be a great name! I looked it up too: "The name Dolly is girl's name of English origin meaning 'gift of God'." Pretty fitting name for Lady's first foal!
