You have a beautiful bird room and bourke parakeets .All of your birds seem sooo happy.I wish I could do that but now I only have a small apt.Your cockatiel with the white face I believe is a male.My friend has a cockatiel just like yours and he’s a male.My friend keeps cockatiels, finches, canaries, and parakeets I a nice bird room but he lives in a small senior apt like myself.He has a beautiful clean bird room but cannot compare to yours. Yours is the prettiest bird room I’ve seen.Your birds are very fortunate.Its soooo cheerful.Thsnk you for shareing it and them with me.I have a Timneh Parrot named Stormy .He was just 6 yrs old.He has a big cage and I have a beautiful play gym coming for him.I only really have room for 2 birds It was soooo nice watching your happy happy birds.Lucky are the birds that landed outside of your home.When I get another Quaker I am looking for a male because of all the issues the females can have.Its such a stress buster watching all your birds with their chatter too.Iam going to start trying to show my Timneh your little birdies.

That is great that you let May in with your budgies; she looks go good and glad she is doing well. You saved her life, like you did with Jack Sparrow. Jingles and Willow are growing up fast and I enjoy how Monty likes to get into the picture. I am starting to easily recognize all your budgies and bourkes, they make a great flock because you provide them with the best home and feed them so well. Snowball looks good in this video; I was wondering if that feather cyst has shown any new concern.
@Loveofpets5 жыл бұрын
I am happy that I gave May a chance. So far she is doing great. The cyst is coming back slowly on Snowball. I tried to take some of it out but got nervous. If I can't do it I will take him to the vets again. I have to get more confident to do it so I can save the vet fees. I will do little by little and hopefully I will get better at it.
@jima93565 жыл бұрын
I guess I'm not surprised that Snowball's feather cyst is coming back; it was massive. I have worked in medical and know that I could never remove something like that on a little canary. He will likely need another visit to the vet. So, why don't you provide me with the info on where you took him; vet clinic name, address, website, phone number, avian vet's name, and let me discuss Snowball with them. @@Loveofpets

So glad May was able to be added to your flock. " Girls just want to have Fun......" The bourkes are very similar. I guess the different colors in the rumps and how much dark feathers on the face indicate who is who? Some budgie colors change as they mature, is it the same with bourkes? If so, its tough to keep track who is who with the 6 being almost identical! I know the mommy always know who is who just with their personalities, right?
@Loveofpets5 жыл бұрын
I am so happy I gave May a chance. I was actually looking for a home for her and then thought why don't I give her a chance first and so far everything is okay. My young bourkes will be brighter pink after their second molt but other then that they will look the same. Sometimes it's hard to tell who is who from a distance. I can tell by their rump color and Rascal has yellow in his wings.
@teardropface5 жыл бұрын
@@Loveofpets I am just laughing now that usually we identify who is who by the face but with the bourkes, it's by looking at the other end (rump). I can imagine saying to the bourkes "Turn around ( to your backside) so I can see who you are " LOL

Could you do an updated video of what you feed the birds, fresh food wise (unless it's uncaged of course)? Thanks. I made some frozen chop ages ago, but left it frozen too long it seems (lost some moisture maybe, not sure) and my two lovebirds don't like it anymore (not that they liked it before, but won't touch it now!). I know a healthy diet is essential to a long life so want to stop procrastinating and prioritise getting a plan sorted, not sure where to start though!

Hi, try holding spray millet in your hand. Birds love millet and will come to you to eat it. Start by offering from your hand and slowly offer your other hand while holding the millet in opposite hand, your cockatiel may step up to reach for the millet.
@persono66585 жыл бұрын

Hi Darlin ! So happy that May is doing so good .. so glad “YOU” found her ..your a great mommy... Can I ask..how long do you leave your fresh veggies and fruits out for budgies to feed on before removing..also.. I’ve had my budgies for 3-4 years and they don’t seem to eat the fruits?? Any helpful hints on how to change their attitudes on fruits😂 would be greatly appreciated 💜
@Loveofpets5 жыл бұрын
Hi, I leave the fresh food out for 3 or 4 hours. Try hanging a piece of apple or a half a grape near a perch or cut up in small pieces and put it in with the veggies. I find that my birds like Apple and grapes the best but berries are better for them such as blueberries, strawberries, raspberries etc. Veggies are better for them as fruits have too much sugar. Berries have less sugar. Try mashing it up and stir it in with veggies. Only give fruits a few times a week as treats.
@bettelovelace44565 жыл бұрын
Love of Pets Yes.. they love spinach,snap peas, broccoli ,carrots, sprouts, beet leaves, hope all that is ok for them.. have never seen them on a DoNot list.. and as for the fruits ..great idea..Will try that.. maybe I’ll string some blueberries and blackberries together and hang by perch’s.. Thanks a million wish me luck💜💜adore your channel💜💜
@Loveofpets5 жыл бұрын
You're welcome. Striking berries sounds like a good idea, it will keep them busy. Try adding tiny bits of millet inbetween the berries to entice them to try the berries.

I might be getting a cockatiel soon (: do you think your could go over pros and cons related to them being male or female? I heard males can get territorial but females may become eggbound. So I’m nervous
@Loveofpets5 жыл бұрын
I will try my best to make a video but generally females are more quiet and can become eggbound , males are much louder then females. Males can get territorial over their mate like Monty is. They are not usually cage aggressive so that's good.

Hi I have a budgie which I guess is about 5/6 months old the bars on his head are fading fast now. The cere is a white colour, is it true you cannot tell their sex until their a little older? My budgie occasionally eats millet from the stem when held quite far away but has no interest in coming out or being held. I’d like to get another budgie but am wondering is it ok to mix males and females? and also would getting another bird completely ruin the slow progress I have made with him?
@Loveofpets5 жыл бұрын
Hi, your budgie is probably a female since the cere is white. It's best to tame her before getting another one.
I have a a green budgie two and she ai a girl she is 10

Hi, they love spray millet. Offer spray millet from your hand and they will come to you and eventually stand on your hand to eat the millet. Don't leave any millet in their cage as they won't want it from your hand. Only use millet for training and a treat.
