Phil, Keep your eye on FedEx as an opportunity. I retired from them July 2022 after 33 years in Dispatch. Knew many guys who worked their way up to the MD11, B777. Good flying career in a well paid cockpit and NO passengers to deal with.

Phillip: Do need a Bachelors or Masters degree to become a commercial pilot? How much was flight school? How long did you serve in the United States army? Did you use the Veterans stipend and loans for flight school? Thank you for serving?

no degree required for most companies, cost can range for about $89k-$110k. i was navy and you ca use your GI bill at some larger schools like ATP

Hey, great content! Question, I live up in the bay. I already have my Helicopter ATP. I’m around 75 PIC hrs away from unrestricted fixed wing ATP mins. Instead of paying out of pocket, I wanted to dive a little into cargo (for resume/ and the personal experience) before going corporate 135, then inevitably UPS. From start to finish how long were you working for the FEDEX Feeder? And how many hours did you get a month? Was there a time obligation after IOE? Ideally, I just want to work for West Air (FedEx) in Oakland, starting April, then out the door with my ATP mins complete by July. Feasible? Worth it? Or just fork out the money for 75hrs and go straight to Corporate Jets ASAP. (FYI I’m not a CFI)
