Had one of these in the 90s. It was a 70s model with super six gears and ram-air cover. The ram-air cover made it run too hot in my opinion so I removed it. The 6th gear made a very rare appearance out on the highway. 6th gear would have more than likely have oiled up the plugs. I always kept it in 5th on open roads as it ran happiest. Appart from that what a cracking roundabout it was for me the X7 way back then 👍. Great video chears 😉.

I had a GT250B, so this takes me right back to my late teen age years. You may already know, the handlebars are wrong, as is the rear light, the B model had a square back light as standard, but many people fitted the earlier twin round light from the earlier models. Great vid, and as soon as you kick started it, the memories came flooding back, thanks for posting it. Where abouts are you, i may see you out and about on it?.

Hello Neil, thanks for your comment. According to the frame and engine numbers my bike is a GT250A. It has been messed about with over its long life but I am trying to get it back to original spec as much as I can. I now have a correct seat fitted and a colour coded right hand side cover, and of corse the rear light. I need to get another video posted with my progress on this bike but have been busy working on mopeds! won't be long though I hope. Good to hear that the sound of it bought back memories to you, it did the same for me. Take care Mickey

@@MadMickey58 I don`t know where you are, but this coming Sunday (5th May) there`s an autojumble on at the Sammy Miller museum at Bashley Manor in the New Forest, maybe they`ll have a twin round style there?.

Excellent, my first ever bike was a ram air version in August 1975 - me and my best mate bought one each at the same time…how we survived is a mystery 🤣. Owned it for 18 months…just checked it’s MOT status and it never made it to the first one!

Well done . Will make a great bike when finished. I had the X5 200cc from new . Swapped it after six months for a Honda 4 stroke twin . I could not get used to the narrow power band of the Suzuki and the constant need for gear changes to kerp it on song. Great video . Really enjoyed watching it .

I bought the ram air model in 1976 for £500.00, it was a blast for a while until I blew the crankshaft seal and the plugs started to oil up, the oil tank ran low without me noticing : (

I drilled out my lever perches and they now have time carts in them. Now the mirrors will never have problems screwing in and out ever again. They are steel thread inserts.

I had several Suzuki two stroke twins and triples. I always thought the choke levers were a bit daft on the twins - either off or full on ! By the way fella, BP and Texaco E5 has no ethanol whatsoever, even though the pumps declare it's E5. I think they'd fall foul of the law if they labelled it E0. Big brother arse crawling necessity, I'm sorry to say.

Hi, thanks for your comment . I did the thread repair the other day. It worked very well . Didn’t even have to remove the bracket from the bike because the post is quite long. Bike now has 2 rear view mirrors. I’m a happy chappie !

Congrats on everything 👏. Personally I quite like the seat without a trim. One question..did you balance the carburetor slides before fitting the rubber boot/airbox?
@MadMickey584 ай бұрын
Hi there, the answer is no. Just wanted to hear her running at the moment. I will get the ignition checked and the baffles out and cleaned then start on the carbs. I’ve just been reading up in my trusty Haynes manual about synchronising the throttle slides, so it’s on the list😊. Thanks for your comments 👍

You have to put cable ties though the top lugs and frame so you cant take 'em off without the seat up.

Best way to clean the silencers out is to use oxy-acetylene up the pipe to get it burning then oxygen only it smokes very badly and you need to keep a hose on the outside or the chrome goes yellow and blue.
