Update on the lifts at tescos in chatham

These lifts go from store level to market level which is just 10cm above store level! and open on the other side, but the lifts haven't stopped there for years. then continue to restaurant level which is locked off in the lifts but you can walk up the stairs to this level, and call the lifts but some of the grills are down which means the doors open but you can't get in or out. then the lifts continue to the grotty car park, but the top 2 levels are locked off.
The car park is VERY grotty, it smells very badly of wee, and there is lots of litter and pigen poo, and even some human poo! and one time there were even some used drug needles - yuk!
These lifts are O&K lifts, and since my last video one of the three has been modernized but then the money ran out and the other two are not going to be modernized. - Which is a GOOD thing, as it is the grotty lift I find interesting. If all lifts were just dull and "nice", then I would not be interested in lifts.

Nice video. I like how you film these grotty places. Looks like one of all of my lift keys fits into the restaurant floor-lock in the lift modernized by OTIS. The lock seems to be similar to one of the locks used in the OTIS Gen2-lift in my latest video.

Thanks for uploading this for us. Good to see that at least one of the lifts got updated but shame that the other two couldn't be. Would you or anyone know, is the restaurant in this building actually open or was it only there in the past? Wouldn't there be a requirement for the lift to serve it in order to provide wheelchair access? Also, who owns/manages the restaurant? Tescos or an external company?

It was only there in the past. The restaurant level hasn't been used in this building for a *VERY* long time.

I too love the grotty ones. Im a bit of a chicken when it comes to riding a grotty one but I do find it interesting how much vandalism an elevator can take.

So out of interest, how many levels are actually left open now in this car park? Am guessing that using the lifts in the car park must put some people off driving here. I seem to remember most of the car park being ramps and then the route from level 1 to ground floor was stairs or the lift. I know its very different but they recently redeveloped the Tescos where I live, the store is now built on stilts with a car park underneath and with lifts and travalators to the store level.

They do need to sort it unless there is another lift to the resturant, but that panel is defintley not legal and needs to be changed.

Alot of homeless sleep in that car park there heavy drug users and drunks also teenagers hang out up there and have sex, its disgusting the council is a waste if time and money, be careful to anyone who goes up there, there is ALOT of needles up there
