Update on Various Tanks & a Few Crosses

Update on a few different strains of guppies I have plus a couple of crosses I am working on. Also some random tanks of fish that will be available next month.
For the daily feeding routine 1 feeding is always live baby brine shrimp. 2nd feeding is of my high protein food, which is over 54% protein & 15% fat. If there is a 3rd meal each day it is of the flake foods I mix up.

I am so loving those black cobras Doug ! A cleaner pattern would be great but those fish are beautiful ! Glad that you are feeling better, and given the craziness of the day, i wish you a full recovery my friend. I myself was on pain killers up till two days ago. Woke up two Wednesdays ago with a pain that almost had me calling for an ambulance. Believe it or not , it was nerve damage due to bad sitting posture. Like the worst kidney stone pain combined with a severe belly ache. Needless to say very little rest during that ordeal. As always i wish you the best of luck and success with all of your projects 👍🤞

Wow Michael I'm so sorry to hear that! I hope you are doing much better! I'm hanging in there. The fish are doing ok. I just really need to catch up on everything but at least I finally got a video done. The black cobras look like jewels in the water. They really sparkle.

Also, glad you didn't mess up your Pingu line with those new ones. It will be interesting to see how this line does going forward, especially crossing in your current Pingu females.

you could cross an American Purple or Half Black Purple into your Black Moscow/Panda Cross and you might get a Purple Moscow. That would be cool.

Sorry to hear about not feeling good, same thing happened to me almost same time, kid brought it home from school. I thought I was going to have to finally go to doctor, thinking it was bronchitis, bad hack cough from lungs, sore throat. Finally woke up one day all gone. I'm sure it will do same for you. Stay healthy our immune system is built to fight it off. That Moscow x Panda cross, dawned on me the blau gene from the panda is what diluted the Moscow gene and messed up the color and caudals. Very interesting outcome. I wonder what would happen if you put a blau female with them to go towards the blau side. If you don't have to get rid of them, keep them around, I would like to work with that concept once I get my room up. The other crosses all a work in progress, all they need is more time and hope for the best. Great work, as we both know patience and work is what makes this hobby interesting. As I heard Paul Gorski say many times about crosses with unexpected results say "If you get lemons, Time to make lemonade" Stay healthy my Friend

Thank you so much Ed! I hope you can kick this soon. I finally felt decent yesterday & got a lot done. My voice is still iffy but I have most of the tanks caught up. The blau male cross to the all red albino has some interesting things going on with the fry growing out. I'll try to clean up that tank so I can film it : ) I can try a cross of the panda cross to a blau female too. I just use the small tanks for crosses so it doesn't take up space And the males don't have a lot of room to get the cross done.

Hope you feel all the way better soon! I'd maybe try crossing some of those Yellow cross, German Half Black Yellow looking females to a Yellow Delta Male, along with the other breedings you mentioned. Might breed out a bit more of the Black that way, giving a cleaner Yellow using a Yellow Delta male instead of their sibling male. I'm having green water issues too. I get a lot of natural light where my tanks are and the Spring light seems to lead to green water. Maybe those big Rainbow Dragons are eating their fry. Maybe some fry cover at the bottom of the tank might help? Can't wait to see how that Snakeskin/Cobra cross turns out. Sounds very interesting. I'm still so aggravated for you about that belly slider Red Koi male... He never should have been sent/sold.

Thank you Renee! I agree with everything pretty much! 1 of the large dragon females looked to be busting at the seams & I only ended up finding 1 fry in there. I'll have to use some bottom cover. I'm just using that crappy slider male until I get 1 more drop of fry from the female. Then I'll move on to whatever males grow out from her 1st batch. The level of quality coming out of Asian breeders this past year in my experience has been crap.

Is that what it is called? Belly slider? I've always called it derpycory gene since they act like cories setting on large surfaces, digging l, etc. But derpy for unhealthy gene. But yeah I agree with this statement they should not be sent.

@@Gingerfrost That's actually a great name for it! They are derpy. It's sad that someone would send it. There's a slim possibility the fish had problems in shipping but it's really a genetic thing. It's obviously true since I had 9 fry from the female and 4 are also sliders. I have to breed that out since the breeder/seller didn't do that.

@@DGrey you can almost tell immediately which ones have that gene. They grow the slowest, are sometimes the darkest, and always love to stick to surface versus swimming around constantly. I sometimes wonder if it's a personality thing and not even a defect considering I've seen them out race regular guppies from time to time. //Hell I had one in my culling axolotl tank and it out lived all of it's healthier siblings. //

@@Gingerfrost I kept the 4 slider fry alive & have been feeding them the same as the healthy fry. The sliders are puny. It's definitely genetic. axolotl culls can actually turn out to be fully formed normal axolotls. I bought a few from a local store that sold a tank of them and 1 regrew the missing gill, another regrew a missing foot. All 3 are perfectly normal now yet weird looking since they are axolotls!

Question about the ribbon fin female did you give her a specific diet (like fed very very little every hr every other hr?) or is just flat out genetics? That she naturally grew it without babying. Assuming just natural grow out. Second thing the black cobras, the single black linee, I find that really nice looking don't really see that in guppies. A little sad you're going to breed it I regular cobra pattern (if I had a bigger fish room I'd ask for any that pop up). Either way the black and silver very very nice clean color combination.

Thank you for watching! I'm glad you like the black cobras, they are very cool. I'm thinking the black line may just be the black moscow coloration either coming thru or just not taken over by the silver pattern. It's just genetics that created the ribbon fin. It's in the back round of the strain and comes out in some fish every generation or 2. The few times I have gotten them before they were slower growing and I don't recall getting fry from the ones I had before. They have always been females, never a long fin male.

why not cross one of your albino reds with the albino red koi female and get rid of the slider male?
