After cutting those open strings on the stairs i bought it, the little Bosch was ok but at it's limit on 44mm slightly damp timber, I've got a bigger corded Makita but cordless is the way to go 🤸‍♂️ yep liking it so far 👍

@@Gidjoiner Indeed, I have a Makita 6-1/2" 18V brushless blade left and it's great for light to medium duty tasks. The 36V blade left comes out for the heavy duty cutting tasks. I also have a 110V Skil Mag 77 worm drive for ripping treated rafters and joists, 👍😎🔨🇮🇪

Thanks 👍 I bought it just after i cut the open risers on that staircase with the little cordless Bosch, that saw did ok but it was at it's limit on those slightly damp 44mm timbers, I've got a bigger corded Makita but cordless is the way so it had to be bought 👍 the handle position on the 40v Makita will take maybe a little getting used to but it cuts like a knife through butter, plenty of power, I think it will come into it's own when i'm cutting long planks that are a bit big for the chopsaw, but easy to cut while still on the stack/pile with a good saw n a sq, liking it at the mo, no regrets 👍

Nice job Gid . Nothing worse than trying to fit new casing on a raggy cut out in breeze blocks. Blocks are also a bitch to get a decent fastening. Any tips on how you do it?

Hi n thanks 👍😊 yeah no fun fixing to those block walls, esp seeing as they're only 4" wide, 120 x 6 screws skewed/dovetailed in so they don't pull out so easily & hopefully hold the wide 200mm carcass, double brown rawl plugged & lots of foam, not a lot you can do 🤷‍♂️ 😉👍😊

If I can I try and get some 18mm ply blocks where the fixings are going to be, then if the casing needs adjusting it makes life easier. Unfortunately tho, you don’t always get a wide enough opening for this luxury. Also depends on what size archs you are fitting. Keep up the good work mate. Love your videos

Why didn't the plasterers wait for you to get the casing in and skim to them, it annoys me why some of them do that now absolutely no need! It just makes our job as joiners hard as we have to fit to there crap out of plumb, uneven plastering or even having to fit pieces to the backs of the architraves in some cases as I did last year on a job. The wall was 20 mm out of plumb at the bottom on one side and 20 mm out at the top on the other side, it was a full wall so I didn't have the option to chop it back.

Hi, the order on this job is a bit rushed, i made that casing to allow for that dodgy plastering, as you say the archi was going to get an infill, because it was in the corner it wouldn't be so noticeable, but on the day i though no!, f*it, they can redo it n fit to my lining.
