Getting old isn't easy, and sometimes taking that time to get a make-over makes not only helps you look at the world with different eyes, with that feeling of respect, and genuine wonder. There's also a sense in knowing 'I still got it!' when approaching life in general. I think these mindsets are often lost in a lot of modern-day approaches to life, and it's really hard to find the time to slow down and really appreciate the hard work that go into sometimes 'the simple things', or, the wonder in technique that allowed these skills, and products to flourish in the first place! Ultimately, a lovely list entirely. You have a genuine love for these games and it really does show in each episode. Thank you Alex, it's always a joy to watch your episodes. Shamelessly, the update is lovely as well, and thank you for the continued opportunities, and, enjoyment of content!

Technically Stellar Blade qualifies as a KRPG since the developers are Korean, but it's a great game, yes.

OMG WitchSpring R is so GOOD! Thank you for adding this to the list! this game has one of the best maps and visuals, rewards exploration a great ton, and carries a surprisingly deep storyline (beyond classic tropes and cliches). it's crafting system is way less complex to Atelier and has a 'training' system to upgrade your stats. i also love their battle system and pet mechanic. tbh I had this on my wishlist for almost a year and super glad to have finally played it recently. definitely a must try for any JRPG fans.

Yeah! Ender Magnolia and Witchspring R! Can I just hype up Witchspring R? I found it highly addictive and enjoyable despite how simple a lot of it seems. Solid story, entertaining characters, and definitely more than you'd think at a glance. It gets especially fun if you go see later games in the series. For anyone curious, 3 is also on steam, and you can easily play it right after Witchspring R, since 2 is just the story of 1 from a different character's perspective (and feels very dated at this point). Highly recommend Witchspring R, really recommend 3 as well.

I can’t wait for Fantasian Neo-Dimension, I tried it on the Apple Arcade and just can’t play through full scale JRPGs on a mobile phone, I just can’t. Everything about the game felt and looked great, it simply belonged on consoles to begin with.

Stellar Blade is technically Korean, and I wish I could play it but It’s a PS5 exclusive right now and I am an only PC gamer. HOWEVER, developers just announced they are preparing for a Stellar Blade PC port in 2025! It should only be a year wait at most! That’s actually not bad at all for a PS5 exclusive.

@mattm2915 no problem, been playing it. It's pretty good so far. I'm only maybe 4 hours in. So it wasn't a part I recognized. I recognized it by the battle menu lol. One thing, though, is that it's a hard game if you play it on the intended difficulty.

Octopath Traveler 2 came to Xbox & Game Pass in 2024, so I'm just going to use that as another chance to shill for this game! It's amazing!

I might get some flack for this, but I do not feel DQ3 HD-2D is that good a game to recommend to everyone. If you really want that super old school vibe, it'll be great, but if you're expecting modern QoL features to smooth over the out-dated issues, this doesn't have it. It's authentic to a fault. Do you like endless random encounters every 6 seconds combined with slow battles (even at the highest speed) against trash mobs? Do you like a paper thin story, with only the most basic of tropes, that maybe only felt original in 1988? What about party members that barely have anything to their character & say next to nothing? I know I'm being a bit harsh, but only because most reviews don't quite illustrate these things & only focus on "old game was a classic, this one is a prettier version, therefore it's great!" However, there's a reason the Steam reviews have dropped down to "Mixed." It's made for a very specific retro crowd (yes, there will always be exceptions & new players who will enjoy it).

Suffering succotash! Imagine being a JRPG fan born in the 90's. A classic game is already years old and by the time you discover your passion for video games over the outside world and its active pursuits like running and jumping, said classic is not on the current gaming radar and slow internet, low pocket money and parents making you clean your room or dry the dishes stops you from discovering this gem of a game. Now skip forward your in your 20's you discover an iconic series of games, you could play the old ones but they seem to "hard" and "slow" compared to your new games, you say to your self that one day you will complete them as your community of JRPG fans says your not really one of them until you play the all the "classics". Forward again to your 30's you have kids a wife and other things that take time and money when 2024 rolls round dropping more great games then you have seen in years along with a HD remake of that classic game that's been stuck on your backlog, a new shiny and more balanced way to play the game with extras that would make going back to the original foolish at best. Now the real problem, your wallet is emptier then Santa's sake after a good nights work so you have to write a long probably poorly spelled comment on youtube hoping to win a copy of the game to avoid waiting months before you can pick it up on a steam deal so the wife doesn't notice the cost. please @backlogbattle take pity and help correct this great injustice your my only hope until steam drops the price lol
