I made a macro that alt + f4 with function + settings, and alt + tab on AC left setting button. Plus Riva on left bumper and 40 or 60 FPS lock on right bumper. Saves a lot of time. I also run in 900p or 720 upscale and get 60 FPS with higher fidelity settings on most games. At such a small screen size it looks good either way, and the effects, texture, shadow, etc settings make up for it. Image is crisp either way. Also added 7 modes in manual watt from 7 to 23w to be able to quickly switch based on game. Plus all the typical windows fixes like core isolation of, page files, turn off windows effects, disable everything not getting related, setting to game priority in myasus etc.

Question, I'm new to handhelds and I'm swaying more for this one. Can you put it into sleep mode like a PC? So just turn on and drive straight into the game instead of loading the game up everytime you turn on
@1bz200210 ай бұрын
Yes you can put it into sleep mode by pressing the power button. However sleep mode on laptops and even more so on handhelds like the rog, devices can get cooked if it turns on in an enclosed space (like a bag, carry case etc, fans covered etc). Happened to me once already and I just had it on a sofa with fans covered next to something. It got super super hot. So always better to shutdown if lying around or in a case/bag etc.
@batpixel10 ай бұрын
Yes you can tap the power button to put it in sleep mode. You can also set RetroArch to save your game state on exit, so when you load the game up again if the device was powered off, you’d load back into exactly where you were in the game if you open it

They’ve improved the temperature and fan speeds and different things like that to improve it yes, but it’s not impossible to happen. They do have a good warranty and are aware of them problem, so they’ll completely fix yours if it ever happened. You could also use your storage in docked mode so the SD card is plugged into something else as an option. It does have internal space you could use instead for higher demanding/temperature games and remove the SD card when playing those. I think it’ll always be an element to these, but lots of improvements made

I just got a new in box Z1 & am trying to get the first CPU setting but I can't find that button (or the CALIBRATE button for gyro, for that matter) anywhere in my command center. As far as I can tell, all updates were installed (took a few days) before I did anything with the device...

I already got screwed on buying a "like new" Pixel 6 Pro a few months ago & I can't at all afford to take this hit or replace anything for at least 2 more years... 😮💨💸

@batpixel To clarify, I do plan on trying out Cyberpunk 2077 & if possible the new expansion, plus Stray & a few older less demanding games, but my main use for the Ally is to replace my ancient HP Pavilion laptop for my editing work, transferring/saving files & media consumption. So that being said, is the CPU setting really important? Can I still get by without these settings? And do you know if I can get a smaller power bank/pack to plug this into for extra off-the-wall (outlet) battery life? And I'd love to see a video on how to get the most battery life, if that's a consideration... Thanks for the tips! 🫡

Some things you can try is inside of Battlefield, make all your settings on the lowest settings possible. Even make the resolution 720p in the game temporarily. Then try testing the multiple performance options I went over in this video such as CPU boost on, AMD software options, graphics upscaling, GPU settings, etc. to get the performance you’re looking for. You can also try plugging your Ally in to get a higher wattage in turbo mode with the power cable or a dock.
