Bless you my Lady! I've been a fb holdout for years despite being pressured by everyone everywhere. I'm caving in but at this point it feels like learning how to use a telephone at the age of 49. My career demands me knowing this stuff and I miss extended family on fb so in the spirit of better late than never, I'm gonna cautiously dip a toe in. Your video helps a lot. Thank you.

Hey Audre, Im trying to teach my mom how to use Facebook, but I live in OR and she lives in WA so its hard to explain things to her over the phone. I was looking for a youtube video that would explain and show her how to use the features of Facebook and I found you! I was so excited to find something so perfect and easy to understand like your video. The problem is that every year or so Facebook updates their software and changes the way people find their friends or update their picture etc. For example: Facebook use to have a little phrase on your profile picture that if you clicked "update your profile picture" it would take you to the page where you could do so. Now you have to run your cursor over the your profile picture before the "update your picture link" will show. This is very frustrating for some people that don't use Facebook enough to learn these tricks but rely on Facebook in order to find and communicate with old friends. I know it would mean a lot to my mom and countless others if you could update your video to show how to navigate Facebook since their most recent update. Thanks again for making such a great video! That's what is so hard about these video tutorials because these sites are constantly changing and when they do not everyone sees those changes at the same time. Thanks so much for this video! I have noticed within the past few months that many (but not all) of the messages I have sent on Facebook that were marked "Seen" now do not have that word under them, or any other information. What happened? I have not downloaded any apps or anything; neither have any of the recipients. Also in the past few months, any new messages I send also do not have "Seen" at the bottom, even though I have talked to the recipients and they all have received and read them.

+Colson Walter It all depends if you're on a desktop or using the Facebook app on your phone or tablet. If you are using the Facebook App you are not able to change the privacy on your photos or photo albums, you are only able to determine the privacy when you first upload the image. However, if you are on a desktop/laptop you would go to the image and to the right of the image you should see your profile picture with your name right beside it. Under your name is the date you uploaded it then beside it you probably see the little globe. Click on the down arrow beside that and then choose Edit Post or Album Privacy. You're then taken to that post where once again you'll see your name, date you posted it then next to the audience you shared it with click the down arrow and choose the audience you want to be able to see the image. I know it's a lot of steps. If you need me to I'll do a Napoleon's Idiot Episode about changing the privacy settings on photos. Hope this helped, Audrey

Hey there Linda, Posting stories to your Timeline should be automatic whenever you post a status update. It goes right to your Timeline and into the NewsFeed of all your friends. Now the sponsored stories you may see in your News Feed and over on the side are paid ads. Unfortunately I do not have any training on that because I have just used it with my own business. My sister and I have thought about doing a class on it because we've learned so much but haven't gotten that far. I will tell you that Jon Loomer www.jonloomer.com has amazing free content he shares on his blog about FB ads and then of course he has classes that he offers. Hey DJ, Yes, there is a setting she has turned on to hide her friends list. I think a lot of people do that because they may have someone that looks at their friend list then tries to send a friend request to all their friends. Pravin - Facebook just updated that lock last week. You should now have a question mark that is page specific. Meaning whatever page you're on within FB if you click that question mark it will share the most asked questions on that page and tell you how to do different things. Be Blessed, Audrey

How about when someone sends you something on Private Message and they want you to send it to someone else. How do you do this??

Hey Barbara, You could always copy the message and then message the other person and paste that message in there. The only way you can add anyone to a private conversation on Facebook is if that conversation had more than two people. So if the message went out to a group of people, all those people within that message could add their friends to that conversation. However, if the message was only between lets say you and your friend then neither of you are able to add anyone and the only way to send it to someone else would be to copy and paste it to the other person. I think this is a legitimate question that MANY FB users ask whether they've been on for years or just getting started. Great question also! Facebook uses an algorithm...a fancy, scientific name that basically means steps Facebook takes to accomplish a task, which in this case is to suggest friends for you to connect with on their platform. So, if you are friends with a person on FB and FB notices that you both went to school together then it may suggest other people from that same school. Or, you are friends with your family and FB notices that your brother and sister are friends with a distant relative that you are not friends with then it will suggest that person. Facebook is all about connecting people, so they want you to connect with as many people as you can so they suggest these people so that you might become friends with them. Does that make sense? Hi Spiros Costas, It looks like you have a personal profile page that you have created and not the Facebook Business page that gives you the ability to "Like" the page. Each Business page is attached to a personal profile page so, from this account that you have you are able to make a Business page. If you look to the left of your Home page you should see a link that says Create Page. +Ramona Grover Try going to her account settings then notifications. You'll see notifications for email, phone, Facebook and something else. Try going into the email and setting it to Important notifications about you or activity you've missed. She can also choose what notifications she'll get by clicking on each one of the features under the heading of What Notifications You Get. Let me know if that worked. +Terry Elliott When you see a photo that you were tagged in it means that someone uploaded a photo of you, or a photo that reminds them of you, or a photo they want you to see. When you "tag" someone on Facebook two things happen, 1. You create a link to that persons profile where anyone that sees the photo can click on your name and go to your personal profile however, YOU control what people see on your profile by the Timeline and Tagging settings 2. The person that is tagged gets notified that they were tagged in the photo at which point they can untag themselves if they so choose. Does that make sense? Be Blessed, Audrey

Hi Patti, Couple of questions I have before I can answer. Are you using the FB apps on your tablet/smartphone? When you say send them to your photos, do you mean on your computer or your photo album on Facebook?

Patti, You'll have to download the image then upload it to your photos. To do this, go to the message that has the photo and click on the photo. It should open up in a window and you should see a download link either to the top left of the image or bottom right of image. Download it to your computer. Once it's downloaded then go to your photos or the album you want to upload it to. Let me know if you have any more questions. Hope that helped. Be Blessed, Audrey

Zain, Beside each name you should see an Add Friend button. If you click on that it will send that person a Friend request where they can accept it or delete it. If you don't see the button then you can always go to their personal profile by clicking on their name and on their cover photo you should see the same icon that says Add Friend, click on that and that will send a friend request as well. Hi Audrey, I’ve watched your video 4 times and I still find Facebook shocking, appalling, and just plain rude. (Please understand me, I’m not saying that about you, but about Facebook.) I find it this way because as you demonstrated, you don’t ask permission to post anything to anyone or have the ability to approve a post before it gets posted to your site (newsfeed or timeline). You go into your sister’s account and change and add anything you want without asking. I find all of that very disrespectful and unreal, regardless if it’s your sister or a friend. There doesn’t seem to be many Facebook boundaries. It’s pretty much open range for cattle to graze and leave their cow pies behind. I friended one person and all this stuff I didn’t want showed up on my site. How do I get rid of it? You showed how to post things, but how do you clean out the horse stall? Just so you know where I’m coming from, I’m 66 and have worked in 4 industries (farming, counseling, private investigation, and am just entering Real Estate). My managing broker encouraged me to set up an FB account with a business page to market properties. I’m used to the world of “confidentiality” and am “respectful” of the privacy of others. I find Facebook personally very intrusive and dangerous. “Information can and will be used against you in a court of law, whether that court be formal (before a judge) or informal (before your peers).” Gossip/slander/libel have devastated the lives of many a person, often times without the source (former friends, co-workers, etc.) of the gossip/slander/libel even knowing any damage was done. I’ve seen it many times and have experienced it myself. I don’t wish it on anyone…So how do I get rid of this unwanted stuff (text/photos - all of it)???

Hi there Scooter Gene. Wow, you've watched this video 4 times? You should be an expert by now. lol I'm going to respond by going through you comment from the top to the bottom ok? 1. Let's clear up the News Feed/Timeline thing. The News Feed is where you will see posts, photo, videos, links that your friends or businesses pages you have liked want to share with their friends. The only reason you are seeing these are because you became friends with them or "Liked" a Business page. There is no way to approve these because it's simply your friends sharing what they want to share with you, their friend. Your Timeline on the other hand is your personal profile, which YOU have control over who posts on it. With my sister, we work together and she is very well aware that I use her profile, name and such in the video tutorials I do on KZbin. As far as changing anything on her personal profile I am not able to do that. So I'm not sure what you are referring to when you stated, "You go into your sister’s account and change and add anything you want without asking." Let me know where in the video you are talking about and I can let you know what I did. As far as seeing or being able to post on her Timeline I am only able to do that because she has given all of her friends permission to do that within her Timeline and Tagging settings on FB. If you do not want anyone to be able to post anything on your Timeline than you can change your settings to not allow friends to see what other post on your timeline. As far as getting rid of "text/photos - all of it" are you referring to the News Feed or your Timeline? If it's the News Feed the only way to get rid of it is to unfriend everyone because you will always see things in your News Feed from your friends. If it's your Timeline then you can change your settings under the Timeline and Tagging settings to not allow anyone to post on your Timeline and that will take care of your personal profile. I definitely understand the whole gossip/slander/libel but for me before I post ANYTHING whether private (or so people think it's private) or on public forums I always ask myself if it's something I am willing to back up and don't mind others seeing. You do run the risk of someone taking something you write the wrong way but at that point I just try to explain it the best I can and if they still misunderstand then that's on them. Remember that you have control over what you put on Facebook and you choose who sees it. It is a whole new world on the Internet but your broker is right about marketing the properties on Facebook but don't forget you have KZbin also. Hi Audrey, Thanks for responding. I really appreciate it. You need to remember I’m an “old” dude and this is a whole new experience. I’m a slow learner and don’t know the FB terminology, so it takes some reps for things to sink in. I’m not sure I understood everything you wrote, so let me summarize. News Feed - this comes from my friends and there’s no way to control this...if I don’t like what they post, I “unfriend’ them. Correct?... What about “not follow”, what does that do? I’ve heard you can still be a friend but not follow them so what they share doesn’t appear in your News Feed. Is that correct information? Timeline - this is on my personal profile and I can control who posts on it. Correct? (I didn’t catch the fact that you were given permission from your sister to do things to her profile. It appeared you just did them without asking.) But what about who sees my profile? Facebook wants you to enter your whole life’s history for everyone in the world to see, and in many cases wants specific answers, such as home town, schools, businesses, jobs titles, etc. I tried to enter general terms but they won’t let you enter general terms, only specifics. Because of the industries and jobs I worked, some things I can’t legally share and others I don’t care to share. I’ve entered the info for only me to see, but remnants or references to it show up on my home page. Can other people see those references? I’m unclear of just what others can see or not see since I can see it all. It seems that it would be better to leave that info blank. Correct? Tagging - in my day “tag” was a game kids played. You ran after someone, touched them and they were “it. So what’s the purpose of “tagging” on FB and why would you want to do it? KZbin - Ok Audrey, you’ve gone a little too far here. One thing at a time. Definitely not ready for that. I’ve been in realtor computer training for the last two months and I’m in total information overload and have another training today. My brain is ready to explode!!! To young people who grow up on technology, it’s easy. To us older folks whose brain thinks differently (and slower) it takes a while. Hi Scooter, Never received a notification that you responded so I just now saw your response. Awe, you're not an "old" dude, you're still very "young". Think about it, someone who is 10 years older than you is wishing they were as young as you are. ;) We're all young at heart, at least that is my philosophy on age is. Nothing but a number. Let me address each of your summations below. News Feed - You can unfriend them but you can also tell Facebook that you don't want to see the sort of post they are posting either. There is a down arrow by every post and you can click on that then choose Hide Post. You'll start seeing less and less of these sorts of post. As far as Unfollowing somebody that is the best option really. You do remain friend with them but you just don't see any of their posts in your News Feed. Timeline - Yes, I would leave it all blank except maybe your email since you will be in Real Estate and the To view what others see on your Timeline go to your personal profile. On the cover photo you should see Update Info | View Activity Log | Then 3 dots ... Click on those three dots then choose View As... You'll get a black bar at the top of your account showing you what your profile looks like to the public. Anything you see that you don't want the public to see is the place you need to go and change the settings to. When you're done you can click on that X at the top left of the black bar. Tagging - Watch this video Dad and I did about Tagging. You're already far ahead of the curve ball on this one. But really KZbin is another great marketing tool in the arsenal for Realtor. +DiligentDrew I think a lot of people are more careful on who they become friends with and unfortunately there are to many people that are not upright and don't have good intentions. Facebook is a place where once you friend someone that have access basically to your life. If you are looking to meet new people on Facebook who are looking to meet new people, you might want to search the Groups on Facebook and start building relationships with people within certain groups. Find a group of people that share your interest and start socializing with them. Within a controlled group, people can get to know you and it will be easier to send that friend request and have others send you friend requests because they feel like they know you already.
