Ok, it's crunch time. While I'm someone who is considered a 'tech-genius'... to his family! The reality is, I know a bit about tech and enjoy playing about and giving 'stuff' a go. I'm already confused before I start, as I don't know which App to run once I've flashed it and Thingio is on the NEO Cam? I couldn't find a Thingio app so not sure what the deal is. I'm sure my questions will be answered as I follow the steps and play about. Will see how I go. Thanks

@wltechblog I'm totally impressed with the thingino firmware upgrade. After getting my first V2 programmed and connected to BlueIris with the RTSP output I thought I'd try and program a V2 that was acting like it was bricked (red indicator light on solid after trying to install factory firmware). The only firmware that it would accept was the Wyze Webcam firmware, other than that, no joy. I loaded up my SD card as you cover in the video and in less than 10 minutes the previously simi-bricked V2 was up and running! Thingino firmware has SO much more than just the RTSP output that I'm currently using and I'm looking forward to learning much more about it. Thank you and the team who is making this happen for all the hard work and patience you have answering all my questions.

So far my recommendation is the wansview w7. it's a 1080p camera, not as good as the wuuk for image quality unfortunately but it's not bad, I use several of them myself! I do hope a higher resolution outdoor ptz option appears!

Regarding the time @9:50 when you are showing how you pull up the preview page, what address or application is the preview page on? I have the flashed V2 on my network now and I have it's IP address but I'm at a loss for where to pull up the preview page.

Once you're flashed, loading the ip address of the cam in your browser will take you to the web ui, and the preview page is one of the menu options at the top. It will also attempt to register the hostbname with mdns, so you can try that as well.

When you connect tot he thingino networi, it should automatically take you to the provisioining portal. This may not work on iphones right now... In that case you can open 172.16.0.1 or thingino.local should also work. After configuring your wifi and setting the hostname and password, you should be able to connect back to your wifi network and use the hostname to get to the web interface. You will use root and the password you set in the provisioning portal to access it. Discord is the quickest way to get help if you need it!

Ready to connect is the stock firmware, so I assume it's not booting the hack. Make sure its on a 32gb or smaller sd card formatted to fat32.

I had a 64gb card that was doing this. I formatted it again just to be sure as fat32 and it immediately started working after that.

I have dafang hacks on my current Wyze cameras. I am looking to move to something different. Does Thingino support Ethernet on a wyze cam 2?

I don't use it personally but I know we have a couple usb ethernet drivers built in, and plumbing to configure and use it.

Got to the wifi credentials page. Entered them. Camera rebooted, but no longer shows up as a wifi connection.. also does not show up on in my router.

You can always set the wifi credential with an SD card. Create a file called uenv.txt with the contents: wlanssid=mynetwork wlanpass=mypassword Rebooting with the card inserted will update the wifi params directly.

@@wltechblog I created an uenv.txt (with user/pass) and put it on the sdcard. Plugged in the micro usb cable.. It appears that the camera is not powering on or booting. No led or sound from the IR sensor clicking.

best choice for support is to jump on the discord. Not sure what went wrong but the Ingenic devices are very forgiving!

For most devices this is a one way trip. If you need to be able to revert, you'll need to take an image of the factory firmware before proceeding, this can be done with Cloner or a flash programmer.

If you're not automatically directed ot the login page, you should be able to reach it by opening a browser and going to thingino.local

Lots of apps available, we support the standard protocols rtsp and onvif, For android you might look at tinycam pro, I dson't have an ios devices so can't make a suggestion there.

There are two for the Wyze V2. Follow the instructions to install the first one. If after installing you have a working device but the video doesn't actually work, install the second image. You can do that by copying the firmware image to the sd card as autoupdate-full.bin and removing autoupdate-full.done if it exists, then rebooting the camera with the sd card inserted. I'm working on the wyze V3 right now which has a number of options and trying to do a detection step to determine the right one for it, if that works out i'll update the V2 installer as well.

@@wltechblogI installed the jfx22 one, but there was no video so what I did before fully reading your comment was I reformatted the sd card and tried to go through the same install process with the jfx23 file, though now I can’t get the blue light to come on when holding the button and giving it power. Did I mess up?

Put the new firmware file on the sd card as autoupdate-full.bin and remove autoupdate-full.done if it exists. Boot with the card installed and you should get a freshly flashed device waiting for you to connect to its wifi and configure it. If you need help, jump on our Discord!

I had to end up flashing the other firmware for my wyze cam. Wyze Cam v2. I had flashed the jfx22 build initially and that gave me the no preview issue. I downloaded the jfx23 build and put it on my microsd card. ssh'd into the camera and ran the following command: sysupgrade /mnt/mmcblk0-1/thingino-wyze_c2_jfx23.bin -f Had to resetup the network connection because of the -f flag being a full flash. After setting up again the video preview started working.

I can't say for certain as I don't have one to test. If you do try, I recommend using Cloner to copy your factory firmware so you can always restore it if things don't work out!

The package does not work anymore! II have followed your guide and bricked my Wyze V2, it is fully dead, no LED, no way to flash anyting. any way to recover? Update: had to open the camera and use USB Cloner to recover.

I had this happen as well. Probably had a successful flash but didn't see the Thingino SSID, so tried power cycling a few times and then holding the button to reflash, and now no LED. How did you get the live serial connection for USB Cloner - via the pins on the board and/or the USB-A port?

It did it's blue light thing, sat around for about 10 minutes waiting to see if I got the wireless access point and nada, gave it another 10 min or so and figured I'd repeat the process and unplug then replug.. Now the lights not coming on when I plug it back in. I do have 3 more to test with... Hahaha

Correct. Wyze Cam V4 has intentionally crippled processors that prevent you from using third party firmware. Buy a Wuuk instead!
