What soldering iron are you using in this video? Is it the TS101 you showed in your equipment video? I am using a cheap one from Amazon. I was thinking of upgrading.
@fixingmoddingbuilding3 ай бұрын
Yes I use the ts101, really good, good choice of tips. Before that I just used a cheap non branded one, did the job just sometimes hard to get the tips to get hot enough to solder well

looks like this microscope doesn't have as much magnification as others price is pretty good I wonder if it can be placed on an articulable arm and if you can update the optics? i am really having a hard decision as beginner who wants to get into installing these chips or at least installing an RCM X86 on my extra V1 erista. also can you tell us which iron and tip you used and recommend solder and flux?
@fixingmoddingbuilding4 ай бұрын
I feel like it zooms in as good as the others I've used, plus it has a digital zoom in it too. I could have gone closer but was happy with the distance. Like all of them I think they would fit on a boom arm if needed.
@andreamitchell47584 ай бұрын
@@fixingmoddingbuilding yeah I am really having a hard time deciding what about hose ones that are just advertised as 4k camera sensors microscopes with a boom arm don't those allow you to look closer and with more room to work height wise? the ones I have been look at are like $80-100 on aliexpress but then there are ones that look like scope in the video on boom arm but they are expensive, ad like $240 I am a vine member and have passed on few of the scopes with bases because of tax reasons and because they looked to not zoom enough but I am really not sure how to read specs and I just don't trust the advertising because like a lot of this Chinese stuff it can be very misleading sometimes. I see some advertised as "coin microscopes"' and I though the difference is that the coin ones need to have the scope up close to the works area where as ones with better optics (and sensors?) for soldering can be positioned high above and still achieve good magnification. I am looking for the best price to performance ratio for my needs as a beginner. I hear people say the boom arm camera ones feel awkward because of having to look to the side

Either its not push in correctly/enough to make a contact with the pin so does not read or you haven't set your multimeter correct?

Most people say don't do hot air as more chance solder balls cracking in the future. Kamikaze is the best option followed by this. If this is soldered secure not much chance of it moving

Don't cover the buttons on the chip. You can tear them off easily if you need to reflash the firmware.
