You can mirror the first contraption by placing it on the other side with the same lever, and you'll get a 2x2 door. I did and it was amazing! Thanks so much for showing this awesome design!

if you want to make the first door but make it work on both sides, literally just add an extra block back and then repeat the thing you did on the front three blocks on the back, mirrored. hope this helps

Hello there, so i've used your tutorial and it work back then, however it started to not work, like for example the door blocks (one of them) keeps going pushed further by the 3rd piston and the 2 pistons cant pull the door blocks (Bookshelf). I also used a lecturn to open and close it but that didn't work aswell.

Hmm. Great tutorial but I'm encountering an issue where the second piston under the door isn't firing the second time to pull the Piston back down I've rewatched the tutorial about 10 times now and haven't found the solution of what I've done wrong some advice would be very helpful :)

First of all, make sure you are in java edition (NOT xbox, play station, switch, etc.). If you are in java edition, it sounds like maybe your repeater timings are off a little bit, so I would check those. Also make sure your observers are facing the correct direction. If neither of those are the problem, I'm not really sure. Sometimes building it in creative and above ground can help you see a problem.

I’m also having problems with the piston doors. The door will close very well but the piston last piston won’t activate to reach out for the secondary block so it won’t open but it does close. I’ve also been following everything you did and try but it just wouldn’t work.

Really appreciated this, it was exactly what I was looking for. Had to do some really hacky work to make it so a button would open it, then close it back a short while later, but the design was nice enough and understandable enough that I was able to minorly modify it till it did what I needed it too. The second door block which is at the top is not coming down. I've checked if the observer output is correct and it is, I'm using dark oak planks as a door, thus its a solid. the problem is that the double piston activates before the one that retracts the block. Perhaps its because I'm playing on a server. Will try and see if it works on a singleplayer world. Edit: Yep that solves it, the problem isn't in the design. Its just too fast for a server. Guess I have to find one that works on it...

Works great! I know I probably just need to do some thinking or research, but maybe you could tell me how to make this 2 directional? By that I mean open the door from the side shown in your video as well as the other side once you pass through the door.

There are two ways of doing this: adding another lever on the other side and the running a redstone line into the redstone dust at the front, or break the lever already there, make a xor gate with 2 levers and redstone lines (you can google how to make one) then take that output into the redstone line. You might want to try both in creative and see which one you like more.

Skizze wow thank you for a quick reply (: so in my survival world the lever with the redstone ran to the front doesn’t really work due to the original lever’s placement and purpose. The XOR gate kind of works but again once you flip the lever on the front side of your door you can’t open the door from the other side. With both levers activated the XOR gate is basically null. Still trying though!!!

I think your initial lever might be in the wrong spot, or you built a different gate, not a xor. A xor should output when only 1 lever is activated and not output when neither or both are flicked. That means both levers can open and close the door.

yeah in both designs the top piston wont activate to grab the top block of the door :(

Your door blocks could be non-solid (ex. glass, glowstone, etc.), and that could be the source of the problem. If that's not it, I would check your observer's output is facing upward next to the 2 base pistons.

You can route another input into the redstone dust directly below the lever in the video. The lever shown was more of a default input, it was meant to be moved around to fit your build. Another style of inputs would be to make both of them buttons that link to a common t flip flop which then links to the aforementioned redstone dust at the front.

On 1.16.5 (latest release), both of the doors in this video still work. You might be on bedrock edition, or else you are just building it wrong. If the latter, it could be because you are using transparent blocks (glass, glowstone, etc.).
