this is just so much better than shadowplay like what. My games like Tekken for example cant be seen thorugh shadowplay and I can now clip them at even high quality then in shadow play

Wow, I've been looking for this answer for a long time. Google had no clue this video existed, but instead sent me to the old, incorrect one. You've done people like me such a service! There are a lot of things I can't figure out (always used Shadowplay). Hope you have tutorials talking about the following: OBS won't just save an MKV file, but it also saves an MP4 version, which I don't want. Another thing is adding a green screen background without me "fluttering" in the foreground.

I realized I didn't go through this in the video! Go to settings, advanced, and at the recording section, enable "automatically remux to mp4", this should only give you mp4 files, not two of the same. It is tricky with green screens, I do not have a tutorial on my channel about it yet, this video explains it great - kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZebaKycYsSMfsk - Let me know if it helped or if you have further questions :)

​@@Starix_Gaming @gamesturbator I have it setup this way as well and still get two recordings, mp4 and mkv. and i've only recently started using obs, so it has to be the newest version as well, i do not use a greenscreen or even a cam atm. just record display cap for game and other windows i pull over to my streaming screen

Assuming replay buffer is enabled in the advanced output settings, try resetting your user interface. At the left upper hand corner press Docks -> Reset Docks - let me know how it works

No need to record or stream if you don’t want to; just start the replay buffer and keep OBS open, clip whenever you want using a hotkey 👍

That is correct! However you do not need to record or stream a video, just turning on the feature works just fine as it is.

hope this does what I need, we will see. seems like an overly complicated way to save a clip from something thats already recording. I wish twitch would just show me exactly what viewers see as its happening while i stream, or display to me in the same quality as my viewers, but for some reason It's always 480, always CLIPS in 480, even if set at 1080 and my viewers can see and clip in 1080 (i actually play in 4k), and usually is so laggy and buffered I have to wait 5 min to clip twitch while im playing anyway. nothing is simple when theres so many extra complex parts for features not needed by everyone, but "record last __ seconds" should be an automatically enabled function unless disabled for literally every recording software, not sure why they thought to make us manually enable what is a basic recording function of twitch and most streaming/recording platforms; exactly what those users would be used to lol. but thanks for the vid man, sorry if I sounded harsh in my first comments to the other vid, that wasn't the intent. that was my frustration with supposedly "the best recording software" lolol

To make a game played in full screen that is fixed in the game video settings. To fix so you are recording a specific game window you should add a source called “game capture” and select the window you want to capture

thats what I'm saying. if you forget to "start buffer", and only hit "record" or "start streaming" and hit a game clip, you've lost the ability to short clip it unless you enable it after the fact, missing the clip... why isnt "record and separately clip the last ___ seconds" just an automatically enabled feature for a recording software? it is enabled on an xbox ffs. seems too basic of a function to have this complex enabling and usage. i dont feel I should have to edit settings and hit 3 separate record buttons to start streaming and be able to record a short clip and everything else with the software that is putting it to twitch, where "clip last 30-60 sec" is literally just on the player. especially if its easy to hit "go live" by mistake, which I hit with the intent to stop a game recording. almost had my entire personal info - ssn, ip, home address the lot of it on am live stream for the entire world to see, but i cant "Record least 30 seconds" by default without all this setup? and OBS is "the best recording software" according to most everyone... ooook, whos gonna develop a new recording software that actually is intuitive of the game-streaming community's needs?

I leave mine on at all times and just trim clips out if I want them or not. I set a bigger buffer so I don't miss stuff. Bigger file size but you can delete stuff you don't need

You can set it to automatically turn on under General > Output > Automatically start replay buffer when streaming

For some reason, the Replay Buffer is very bad when you're trying to clip a game that's in Exclusive/True Fullscreen (especially Roblox), and I'm basically forced to lose a lot of FPS just to have watchable clips in my games. Is there any thing i can do to fix this?

@@coldblackice I'm using version 30.0.2 my GPU is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 and my CPU is an Intel Xeon CPU E5-2650 v3

@@dog8921 What are your encoding settings? Are you using NVENC/GPU encoding in OBS? Also, make sure to disable Windows "Game Mode", which is known to cause more problems than it solves. At least as a temporary experiment. Does the problem go away entirely when you're in Borderless-Windowed mode (instead of Exclusive)?
