All things in balance and musicality. Also it's a parallel EQ architecture. A broadest Q boost also raises a large part of the audio band = a big part of "the sound".

Nice, the magic is in the mid-range as they say! Something different on the master bus is a T Racks White Channel Stereo Strip (SSL9000 clone). It has a freakishly clean 4 band EQ section with a super smooth low end all the way down to 40Hz 🎉

Tangetial thought. I reckon a big part of the reason we perceive musicality as being in the mids is because - and I'm making a guess at your age here, sorry! - all the music we gew up with was cut to tape for vinyl so had to live in the mids, and that's the sense memory we have of what great music sounds like. I wonder if for a younger generation who grow up on a different reproduction world might start to think about midrange differently?

What are your thoughts about the Sontec vs the Relab one?

The n4 AA nebula lib from Alex b "sontec" eq probably beats both. Hard to use, expensive for the engine, and you can only use one band at a time.

I always get asked by rappers… “what is mastering?” Extremely simple question but I’ve always struggled to provide a simple answer in terms they can understand. Maybe you guys have some ideas

@@ernieg if you are listening on your phone then no you won’t “fee it” or hear it man. I can hardly tell on my phone and my ears are extremely well trained to hear very small details and changes
