19:31 I just adore this piece. It is the closest Luke had ever gone to the dark side. You can see the emotion in his saber swings. Embracing his anger like his father had done. I like to pretend that the vocals are the Jedi and Sith spirits chanting at each other trying to determine the outcome of the duel, with the Sith emerging victorious at the end when Luke cuts off Vader's hand.

You know the choir could represent Palpatine. It’s strong, certain and unwavering until the decisive moment at 23:02 when he too succumbs to blind frustration at not being able to turn Luke and its voice becomes unfocused as Vader hurls him over the edge and is silenced. Have been thinking that being emotionally compromised by one’s own ego can make a user temporarily disconnected from awareness within the force, the same reason Vader was caught off guard by Han at the Battle of Yavin (feeling frustrated at himself for not getting a lock on Luke’s X-Wing).

James Horner also mixed in leitmotifs from Wrath of Khan into his later scores, I think all composers do this to a degree especially if a producer wants a scene to sound like that earlier work, their creative freedom can be limited to some extent.
