I went on a catch combo of pikachus in lets go eevee edition. 231 Pikachus captured for 200 pikachu candies. And not a single one was shiny. After all that, I found a lvl 3 shiny bulbasaur though and it was my first ever shiny pokemon in 20 years. I started with yellow version and have always wanted to catch a shiny pokemon, but this level 3 bulbasaur was my first. And I love him!

The odds don't work specifically for your combo'd pokemon. If another shiney appears itll reset you back to 1/312 or whatever

It doesnt matter if you're at 100 or 200 or 300. No need to tell us your combo if youre above 31...its the same odds. After that every Pokemon that spawns has a 1 out of 340 (whatever it is). No way you played pokemon for 20 yrs and didnt get a shiny in XY, Omega, and whatever came after that. Easiest shin odds ever. Especially chain fishing

Just a small note, any Pokémon that runs from you will break your chain. It doesn't necessarily have to be the Pokémon you're chaining. That happened to me when I had a 31 rhyhorn chain and a shiny golbat fled. Very informative video as always though, your content throughout this games release has helped me immensely so thank you

If you throw a ball at a species different than your chain, it breaks out, and you run away, it does not break your combo. I was comboing Rhyhorn, chucked two balls at a Kangaskhan, then I ran, and I still had my combo.

also heads up people, i noticed that a pokemon lets you know that it is going to run right before it actually does, to you can run from it first and not break your combo. You'll notice it, where the pokmon will to and cry and i move but the circles stay showing the whole time, that means its about to run away so you can quickly run from it first to save your chain

I was very on the fence about enjoying this game. I even preordered the pokeball plus edition in like... September. Also you can bring fossils back to life without breaking your combo, so you can amass lots of fossils from Cerulean Cave and once you get a chain of 31 you can look for fossil shinys!

It increased the odds of rare or special spawns, of which Eevee is one of them. It won't spawn as many as chaining the Eevee itself would, but it would increase the number of them. Also note that the guaranteed max IVs are only for the Pokémon species you chained, so it wouldn't be guaranteed good IVs.

I believe so, but I don't think it actually matters much. Since they're static encounters, you'd only get one 1/350ish chance before you'd have to reset your console..... which would end your catch combo. Unless you're talking about the wild birds. In that case, yes, you could use that same strategy to catch them, but not for Mewtwo. Mewtwo is only a static encounter

Shiny hunting in this game is one of the best things :D personaly speaking i hate standing still but i also hate reequiping my flying pokemon the entire time to fly . So what i do i just capture every pokemon of the species that i am shiny hunting until i reach 200 candy and then just run into that same species and run. Doesnt despawn everything but it gives you a diffrent spawn atleast faster then waiting. Ofc unless there is a very nice way of reloading the map aka route 17

I have found shiny pokemon leaving a area and coming back because it does reset the spawn of pokemon,but it only makes the resets faster making an appearance of different pokemon faster making the appearance of a shiny faster. I prefer using the combo methods because I want the experience,candy, and the chances of shiny by just catching for a great iv all done at once.

My shiny Sandshrew popped up before I even caught 30 of them (it was my 28th caught Sandshrew). My shiny Magikarp appeared pretty soon after my 30th combo, maybe like 20 minutes. Shiny Nidoran (male) took a little while longer, maybe 2 hours or so. I had two shiny Spearow appear two different times in two different areas without even shiny hunting them. I gave up on finding a shiny Chansey after 3 days of hunting for it. Currently I’m hunting shiny Bulbasaur.

Few tips for the comments i saw that had questions 1. 31 catch combo is the best for the shiny encounter rate, the odds increase with the shiny charm and a max lure active 2. You can do the catch combo on a pidgey as an example and then go to cerulean cave and encounter a shiny chansey, it’s not because you catched pidgeys you cant encounter another shiny. 3. Yes the catch combo is broken when a Pokémon succesfully flees or when you quit/ soft reset the game. Also saving before he runs doesnt matter. The combo is broken ! Look out for it. 4. It’s actually easy to see when a Pokémon is about to flee from you. He does another move during catching then he normally does! Check it out on another video for better explanation.

I think it is also worth noting that if you are chaining and another shiny pokemon or rare shows up, if you go to catch it, even if it ends up running away, it breaks your chain. I recently had this happen and wasn't sure if it would happen. I was chaining ponyta and saw a shiny Dodrio. I attempted to catch it since catching 31 ponytas is generally easy in this area, but it ran away. It ended up breaking my chain.

Catch combo 31 gives guaranteed 4 max ivs, with potential for 6 max. And rare pokemon spawn rate increases drastically after catch combo of 11. This video isn't the clearest on this subject.

I got a 700 pidgey combo cause I really wanted a 6iv, I accidentally closed the game... It hurt, so I started a new combo and at about 80 I found a 6iv, also along my journey I got 3 shiny pidgey's that all have 4ivs.

I got a Chansey with a Lure active and only 8 combo, when I was starting to farm for XP. It was pretty lucky. After that I raised the combo to 100 and just started walking around, eventually I found a shiny Clefairy when I was on Mt Moon getting my daily Moon Stone. Chaining a Pokémon makes them spawn more often, which in turn increases odds of finding a shiny one and/or a good iv one. Best thing to do is chain something, go to where the rare spawn is; wait for two to be active at once and catch them both

Update: you can begin a combo catch in GO Park and continue in the let's go world. This would be a great way to start some rare spawn chains ie. Squirtle charmander hitmonlee chan etc

two corrections: - the 1 in 273 chance does not mean that one in every 273 pokemon will be a shiny. it means that every time a spawn occurs in the overworld, that pokemon has a 1 in 273 chance of being a shiny. that's why you can see a shiny the first time u ever see a spawn or only the 10 thousandth time you see a spawn. - going in and out of a building/ladder to check the spawns of the same area over and over does not increase the chance of a shiny spawning. people do it because it immediately resets the spawns, instead of you having to wait for each pokemon to despawn (and then for another to spawn) individually

Throughout the game I was able to find shiny Jigglypuff, shiny Tentacool, shiny Eevee, shiny Dragonite, and shiny Nidorino without the shiny charm and the last two while I was combo-ing to level up pokemon to complete the pokedex. Tip: Rather than using the sky, which limits you from entering doors, use an Onix. It can reach the sky pokemon and go through doors.

Dude not even joking after I watched your nidoran video I ran a 110 combo on it got a 5 iv with the last stat being almost perfect and then waited for like 20 mins and a shiny nidoran spawned and that one is a beast almost the exact same stats as the last one I had caught, 10 minutes later a shiny Mankey popped up lol

Does the 31 catch combo raise the odds for ALL Pokémon in the area to be shiny or only the Pokémon you’re chaining?
