the quality of these are great, not much spaceworld stuff on youtube so this is pretty cool to see

I'm utterly enamored with all of the footage you've released, as this all is handily the highest quality footage out there of the event. It's incredible for preservation!

Thank you for sharing this! Sorry if this sounds weird but I just find it fascinating how the young people in attendance have grown up and now probably have families of their own with kids who were their age when this was made. How time flies.

Yeah I was thinking that too - pretty crazy how old the footage is.

I love this so much. I'm wondering, though...and forgive me for being in the throes of a momentary panic over a random Tiktok video featuring a sound that basically has led me here...if I were trying to track down who in Nintendo, whether in-house composer or 3rd-party contractor, etc...who would have been the responsible party for coming up with the composition of the introductory music for the GameCube. I never owned one, and when I was sent a Tiktok video that was wholly unrelated, I didn't realize it was derivative of the GameCube intro. It reminded me of several synth sequences from 80s movie, like Tron and Last Starfighter, and it only dawned on me later that it was referencing the GameCube intro. Now I'm trying to track down who wrote the intro, and whether they shared provenance or influence with the movies I mentioned. sigh...I mean, I'll probably forget about this obsession in about eight minutes, but whether someone knows where to look thireen years from now and the video is still up, lemme know. It might make my day then. Or now. :: sheepish shrug ::

Probably a safe bet that Koji Kondo had something to do with it or knows who created it.

Awesome stuff. As a modder of the game Luigi's Mansion, this is really cool. I've been interested in spaceworld 2000 and also 2001. Thanks for uploading this hq footage! Heck, what camera did you even record this on? Did you build a time machine to go back and see this masterpiece of an event?
@AdamDoree3 жыл бұрын
This is only a mid-range DV camera in 2000... a Sony TRV900... it cost maybe around $1500. I think everyone is just used to video compression of the era, used on source material of the era. But when you apply modern encode of the original tapes it looks as good as the raw tapes always did... I would say it's broadcast-like SD quality. We eventually moved to a VX2000 in mid 2000s which had better lens/sensors and a nicer overall image.

I love how the first version of the GC controller looks like a third party knock off
@cruz36083 жыл бұрын
Nice stuff! Out of curiosity, if you remember, were you under any kind of NDA for the GCN material, seeing as it seemingly wasn’t present at all on the public days?
@AdamDoree3 жыл бұрын
No, there was no NDA of any kind for this event so it was a media free-for-all. And back then the only limitation was the tech to get coverage published... we're talking overseas or Japanese dial-up internet from a hotel room -- not fun. But yeah, on the consumer day GCN was nowhere to be seen, focus was GBA & N64; 99% of Japanese consumers had no idea what a GameCube was at that point and would not be able to buy one for more than a year. So it was just for press and hardcore fans reading online coverage.
