Do not get rid of that door. You can always do a deep clean and have it in reserve if the new door fails. Congratulations on the mini firewood sales. Stay safe.

Yes Dan Congrats., on all your limited Edition Mini Firewood Sales. Looks like a great item for you Sir. Good information on the Outside Boiler also. I ran into a similar problem with my Stove Downstairs. A new Piece of Heat Resistant Glass and a New Gasket around the Glass made it 100% better. Stay Safe out there, and it's going to get Cold again this Week. Ron from the Woodyard in Upstate NY.

Hi Dan, just wanted to say hello as a new subscriber and fellow firewood guy. Cold up in Canada these days and so I’ve been enjoying your firewood KZbin channel. I’m not familiar with the table top burners but they look really cool. Very innovative and interesting idea with the mini firewood. Burn a lot of hard maple, hickory, and iron wood up here in the great white north for the high heat value as she gets pretty cold at night sometimes. Anyway Dan… just wanted to send a friendly hello from a Canadian fan and wish you the best! Keep up the great work! Jay🇨🇦

Hey Jay..welcome to the Back 40 my friend! The table top fire pits have really been growing in popularity the past year or so...and they are pretty cool to burn and sit around. More for recreational burning and not the heat. Again glad ya found the channel, appreciate ya being here! 🍻

Good work guys! I think you have way more ash than you should because of the unburned coals. Is there a way you could stir the ashes more or build some kind of a fork to sift coals and bring them to the top before you reload the boiler? Looks like you have alot of buried coals that don't get burned. In my indoor regular stove i have to stir the ashes everytime I load to get them to burn up

Good plan with the door. Having a working spare, in case of a problem will be nice. Grab a fan gasket or two (obviously), one for the re-assembly, and one as a spare. Cheap insurance. Our Temps have been running well below AVG since before Christmas, I'm looking at the 14 day forecast, and there is no change, so it's time to haul more wood to the house. Sunny today and tomorrow, light winds, looks like a window of opportunity to get outdoors. Cabin fever is setting in!
@Back40Firewood8 сағат бұрын
Had someone asking about the door if I would sell it, but I'm that kind of guy who likes holding on to things 'just in case' ya ever need it...hahaha Another round of cold here is coming this week as well, but at least the day are getting longer so might help a bit with the cabin fever. 😃👍

@Back40Firewood8 сағат бұрын
Good morning. We actually got 2" of snow overnight and now the cold is moving back in for the upcoming week. It's been feeling like Winter just not looking like it up here. Hope ya get a little warm up and some melting down there soon.

Glad to hear the door swap out worked. You can get a fiberoptic inspection scope relatively cheap at Harbor Freight to inspect your door from the inside 🤷 Congratulations on your small wood (😂) sales 😊
@Back40Firewood8 сағат бұрын
Thanks. I've gotten it pretty much cleaned out, well as best it needs to be for a backup I guess. The main thing if I even have to swap it out will be making sure there is a good tight seal around the blower and a big thick rope in the door. 👍
@mnbednar807110 сағат бұрын
Amazing how air tight those need to be.
@Back40Firewood8 сағат бұрын
Yep they sure do. I had some comments that I should drill more holes in the door to let air in, but that is the complete opposite to the solution...lol

NW PA here. We are in the middle of an extended freeze with 2’ of lake effect snow in the yard. Burning ash in a basement furnace.

Mornin' ( D )... I was sittin here eatin' my Frosted-Mini-Wheats, tryin' to come up with a local distribution solution. Then It hit me... No, not my wife... An Idea! What you can do is get a Mini- Bike, You know, one of those with the ATV tires. And LBM can go around after school and make deliveries... ( Kinda-Like The Ole Style Paper Route... ) Sweet Hugh. Now that's some food for thought, besides the Mini-Ravioli you're havin' for lunch... All kiddin' a side, do you think they make a mini- woodboiler??? You know kinda like an indoor wood stove with a water jacket. I think somethin' like that would be killer. We use our wood stove to heat water for washin' dishes, the floor and such... Not because we don't have a hotwater heater, but because we have to run the water into a 30 gal barrel waitin' for the hot water. it's just more convenient usin the stove ... Stay cool Brother... Peace...🥃
@Back40Firewood5 сағат бұрын
lol...the mini is everywhere when you start to look for it! Hahahaha Yeah I've seen 'mini' or small wood stoves for tiny homes and tent/cabins but I've never seen a mini boiler system...that would be interesting however I think you'd need to have it pretty close cuz you'd be refilling it often. Mini Boiler Wood does have a ring to it....lol

Sounds like good news, Dan. Can you use a torch and burn some of that creosote out? Bill
@Back40Firewood8 сағат бұрын
Not sure if a torch would burn it off or not...or if it would get burning out of control...lol
@brianellis49646 сағат бұрын
Have you been burning slightly damp wood?
@Back40Firewood5 сағат бұрын
Nope, been burning 2 year seasoned Oak.
@jbbrown790710 сағат бұрын
Dan, I will pay shipping and whatever you need if you will send me your biggest box filled with your wood ash. The old folks home is planning a garden. I will add your ash to the garden soil.
@Back40Firewood8 сағат бұрын
You would want it sifted so that the bigger chunks of coal are separated out from the fine ash though, right?
@jbbrown79076 сағат бұрын
@Back40Firewoo No, any char coal that comes with the ash will make the weight less and be just as beneficial to our garden soil. I think you could sell that whole pile of wood ash as garden enhancer.
@Texrc8 сағат бұрын
You will have $500 worth of lump charcoal this spring 👍
@Back40Firewood8 сағат бұрын
I probably should sift through that pile and separate out the fine ash and the lump coal. I've just always hauled it to the ditch back in the woodyard.
