Nice that you guys met up again. Oh nice you got Gill mug too!! I am thinking of doing a shrimp tank Great update Congrats on the fry..

Thanks so much, Chris! Shrimp are pretty cool, but I have found that the blue dreams reproduce like absolute mad, I'm being a bit overrun with them. The reds I have (sakura and bloody Mary) are a lot more manageable, seem to self regulate their population. Those are the only 2 colors I've kept so far, but unless you've got someone to buy them I wouldn't get the blue dream. A nice plus is that they will clean fungus off fish eggs. Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it! 😊

Nice update! 🙂 I wonder if anyone else has seen certain shrimp go brown-ish and then get bright red when put in a different tank. Interesting phenomenon.

Yeah Idk, hopefully they'll tell me if they have. Thanks for watching, didn't realize how bad my hands were shaking when I filmed some of this.

@@TarasTankFriendsI honestly didn't notice, but I've been drinking coffee so maybe my eyeballs are shaking in sync. 😋 Srsly, though - I personally didn't notice at all.

Wow, very natural looking tank, and that Betta is ferocious. Not a speck of dirt in sight. Do you trim your pearlweed to keep it at the bottom? Love the informative narration. Your sharing is much appreciated.
@TarasTankFriends Жыл бұрын
Thanks madcat! I'll be adding a lot more plants soon-ish. The pearlweed is short because it's just still trimmings, but once it gets established I will have to trim it. I want to go for a short in the front and tall in the back look for it. It's so versatile, one of the reasons I think it's one of my favorites. Thanks so much for watching and commenting, I appreciate it! 😊

Pearl weed is one of the only plants I've managed to kill ahahhaha I couldn't get it to take.. Maybe my water was too hard? You have inspired me to start trying to breed my CPDs again as well! They are such easy to breed fish once you know how to collect their eggs easily.
@TarasTankFriends Жыл бұрын
Hi there! 🙂 I actually don't collect their eggs, I don't really know how to without separating out a pair and having an additional tank for that. Their main tank is just covered in a thick layer of sußwassertang and when I siphon under it sometimes I get lucky and wigglers end up in my bucket. I have thought about adding some plastic canvas under the plants, I've heard the eggs will fall through and it will keep the adults out. What method do you like the best? Also, thanks so much for watching, I really appreciate it! 😊
@IndoorEcosystem Жыл бұрын
@@TarasTankFriends I've been trying to get mine set up like that where they can breed in a single tank but it hasn't worked so far. I collect the eggs from time to time and grow them out in another tank. Sounds like I need to get some sußwassertang to help things along!

Great update Tara, I love the pearl weed. It grows soooo slow for me when Inhave it in the substrate but when I floated it grew much faster. One of my favorites 😁
@TarasTankFriends Жыл бұрын
Interesting-- I haven't actually had much success floating it. Definitely one of my favorites also though, so versatile in terms of lighting and trimming. Thanks so much for watching, Patty, I appreciate it! 😊

G'day Your Highness, I'm looking forward to seeing what plants you use for your Dutch style tank. I have had blue shrimp turn brown after being moved into a different tank.
@TarasTankFriends Жыл бұрын
I already have some of the new plants in a different tank, a few I've never kept before also including the hygro blue. It's likely going to be a work in progress for quite a while. Interesting about your blue shrimp. I moved some of my blue dreams into a different tank and they turned jet black, but it seems with every molt they go back and forth between blue and black. Shrimp sure are interesting! Thanks for watching, Gil, I really appreciate it and thanks again so much for the mug! 😊

It's funny i ran across your channel, My son and i were just talking about a tank he got me yesterday. we might try plants, he said he wants black substrate and a betta. I will show him your video.

Hi! That's very cool and I'm glad you did find my channel 😊. Plants are so much fun, I remeber my first was an anubias nana petite I bought pre- glued to a rock, and I was so thrilled when it actually grew a new leaf instead of died like I expected it to! You also can work them in slowly along with silk plants to ease into it. I wish your son lots of luck with his new tank project and thanks so much for watching! Merry Christmas and a happy new year 🎄🎉

Awesome update video Tara! Wow now that is a very very pretty betta. I'm now at the stage where I'm gonna have to jar the betta fry as they are getting super aggressive lol. Also those bloody Mary shrimps look super healthy, nice gift from Gil's fishroom 😊. Hope your well
