Hi guys!!!! We literally went through a Garden Answer marathon and loved it. We had not been able to watch anything no power no internet after this awful Florence hurricane. But finally today we caught up to yalls videos. Loved the fall containers! We are sure ready to refresh our pots and garden as we lost most of our garden. But on a positive note that is just makes room for more plants and to learn more .And what a handsome little man Benjamin is so precious. Our little man kept on saying hi Laura lol! We had such a great night watching y’all! Tons of hugs Angie and Ambrose.💚💚💚💚💚💚

The tip for planting the butterfly bush was really helpful for me. I grew one in a pot all summer and when I planted it in the pot, I put the rootball pretty high. It was happy all summer. I just gave it away to someone so they could plant it out in their yard. No room for it here!

Oh my goodness I have a butterly bush in the backyard that I cut back to about 18 inches every winter, earlie spring and by this time it is over the roof of my house. It has to be about 15 years old and it is huge, I think I will plant some sedum around in that bed next year,

I have never had luck with my butterfly bushes. I now suspect improper drainage. I'll try again and use your planting method, leaving them a little higher than the surrounding soil so that excess water drains away. Thanks for the advice!

Was wondering about my sedum flopping. I just figured they were too heavy and needed dividing. Now that you’ve mentioned too much water, on the East Coast (Md) we have had so much rain this year, more than sunshine. It feels that way anyway, but my grass is greener!

The proud berry is looking great. I planted one two years ago and I love it! However, I don't think mine is getting enough sunlight because its not putting on much growth, in fact, it seems to be smaller this year than last. I'd love to see how yours is doing this year now that it is in its second year!

Super easy to divide. I've dug up the root ball then took a sharp kitchen knife, such as a chef's knife, and cut into sections. Don't be squeemish. Sedums can take it.

I'll plant some little flowers and some perennial grasses with them too for my front yard as well. High desert zeroscaping is very interesting but I never have to water the sage, ever! Around the 9:30 mark you mention waiting to cut back butterfly bushes until they start to show signs of new growth. Well, it's March 1 today and I'm in zone 7 and my two blue chip jr's already have new growth at the base. I just planted them last fall. We have clay soil. They're in a spot that shouldn't get too much extra moisture because of how the bed slopes, so I think they're happier there than where I had them at first. Should I cut them back now because there's new growth or should I wait a little longer? I mean even though it was 70 yesterday, there's still a good chance of frost where we are.
