Updating Software on Futaba Transmitters

Hi Matt, thanks for your super helpful videos. My question is: I have not updated my 14MZ for a long time, do I need to install all the missed in sequence or can I just install the most recent up to date software and will that fix all?

Hi matt. Great tutorial. Am i right in saying that you have to format the sd card first?

I always do. But you might be able to put it in the TX. The newer transmitter then create a folder structure on the SD card for you. I can’t recall if this one does. Sorry.

@@MattTakharRC thanks matt. One other question i have is in regards to transferring model memory from 14sg to 18sz. I understand how to do it but before i go ahead and do it i'm wondering which system to use in the 18sz. On my 14sg i have all my models on the faastest 14channel system but from what i know the 18sz only has faastest 12 and faastest 18. So if i pick the faastest 18 system would that be ok? Considering my receivers are r7008sb 14 channel recivers!!

@@heron9524 no problem The 7008SB is supported by the 18SZ. Here’s a note from the description “This RX currently only works with an 18MZ, 18SZ, 16SZ, 16IZ and 14SG” You should be fine.

Hi Matt I just picked myself up a new Futaba t16iz super,I seen you video on the call outs that you done with the t16iz,and I was wondering if it's just a matter of updating the transmitter to the latest firmware to get that sound packedge,or is there anything else that I need to do aswell,thanks for your help in advance Matt.

HI, the T16IZ super (T16IZS) has different firmware to the T16IZ, just to keep us all on our toes! Having said that the Super should already have the speech function. I configured one last week.

Hi Matt, Yes your right with the ‘E’ behind the update version means for English. If was ‘J’ it would be Japanese and so on 👍🏼

Hello, Thank you for this video. Thanks to you I was able to find the user manual in French as well as the software to upgrade my Robbe-Futaba FX 40. I am very grateful to you because I did not know that, since Robbe no longer made transmitters, the denomination is now Futaba T12MZ. I need to upgrade my FX 32. What does this Robbe name for Futaba mean? Thank you for your answer. GeF

Hi Matt. I have the 18sz and i get as far as loading the sd card into the tx--then when i press the 2 buttons nothing happens.I have tried it a hundred times--Any clues???

Hi. It probably the card is too big or in the wrong format. Make sure your card is less than 32gB

5:00 what you are warning about Futaba did warn about this then the new T16IZ was launched to the market 2021. big warnings in the printed manual and everything. i updated my radio late summer 2021, and have not updated sens. it say´s i have 3.2E, and i was Surprised that its only 4.2E now? and on the webpage today it says v6.0 ?? And looking at the PDF file what the new "Features" are, its nothing i either need or want, i just need to update to make sure i have all the bug fixes then.. that was a bit sad.

I "updated" my T 16SZ to 4.3E and now the low voltage warning is sounding showing 5.8v. I measured the voltage on the newly charged HT5F1800B NIMH battery and it is 7.1v. The transmitter is set to use a NIMH-battery. How do I "downdate" back to an older version?

Hi. That’s irritating! I would let Futaba know as it may well be a bug in the 4.3E firmware. You should be able to download the previous version of the firmware and then repeat the update process. I’ve not tried it though.

​@@MattTakharRC Hey there! I have not heard from Futaba yet. This is so frustrating. Now my battery pack measured 6.68v from just resting for 12 days. When I tried it in the transmitter, it turns on and then immediately turns off. I think I can get the Transmitter working for a short period if the battery is newly charged. Where can I download an older firmware version?

I got an older version 3.7E from my brother, voltage, and everything looked ok. So, I then tried the 4.3E again, the transmitter is still working, showing the correct voltage.👌

Hi. The range on the T8J should be the same as any other Futaba transmitter to any make to be honest. It looks like a nice set although now discontinued. You shouldn’t have any range issues. See if it has a range test mode in it. futabausa.com/product/8j/
