Hi Matt - many thanks. I just switched from a T6K to the 16SZ. Here’s a useful beginners safety tip which took me a while to figure out. Do not use ‘throttle cut’ for electric planes as your assigned switch will not cut the motor if the throttle stick is anything more than a little above idle. This is poorly referenced in the manual. Recommended that you change Throttle to Motor in the function screen, then assign a switch (I used switch F) to kill the motor in the Motor menu. I watched numerous videos that continued to use ‘throttle cut’ for electric planes then had to add complicated flat throttle curves/conditions etc - totally over the top and unnecessary. The dangerous condition is that once you’ve used ‘throttle cut’ (again, wrongly for electric planes), we tend to move the stick only a little bit then try the kill switch and this does indeed work but if you have the throttle at greater than 25%, the assigned switch has no effect at all - meaning you cannot shut off the electric motor!

One thing I realized from incorrectly using the throttle cut. IS if the throttle is ABOVE idle, the throttle cut switch will do nothing. I found this out, because I used the SF switch as throttle cut, and SE as landing gear, and incorrectly hit SF in flight when I intended to hit SE to drop the gear down. Then I noticed what I did, had no effect on the throttle. Apparently Futaba coded a fail safe for throttle cut, to not cut the power if the throttle is above idle but the throttle cut switch is engaged, and only do so once the throttle is at idle AND the throttle cut switch is active. So there are advantages to having the throttle cut instead of programmed as a Motor. I intend to try both and see which I like best. But killing the motor inadvertently like would have, isn't ideal, but thankfully on electric it is quickly recoverable if you hit the switch again quickly.

Thanks for the video. I just purchased one. The T14SG is a good Tx. However, the upgrades were difficult to do. Formatting the SD card, using Windows and the Tx format was non-compatible. Not even the so call Futaba experts could help. I purchased with some trepidations after the experience with the help. Your video is most useful. Thanks again.

Hi Matt, great video 👍 I'm setting up a hotliner glider for the first time and want to set up (maybe?) 3 flight modes (Spektrum-speak) such as Launch/Fly/Land - I assume these are the 'Conditions' you mention. A video on those would be very useful to me as I am new to Futaba and find it confusing, mainly because they use different names for things compared to Spektrum which I normally use.
