Best thing I did for my tello was I bought a $30 track phone at the dollar store and got the android app it’s called TelloFPV and cost a couple of dollars. The phone I got was a ZTE BLADE. $30 u don’t have to activate the phone to use it. I have an iPhone 7 also. The android app even has a return to home button on it. It works well I use it with one of the range extenders. And at over 200 feet it comes back and will land really close to where you took off. It always makes it back to the landing pad. It’s awesome. I find that if tello connected with android phone,the video cam stutering is mucj worse than the ios Plus the video recorded by android is in black and white colour and can't save image or video...is it the same prob as you?

So I dumped up dated firmware update, and reloaded Tello factory app. No issues. Good luck.

Purchase my DJI Tello last December 2018 and the unit works fine except there is no video. I can take still pictures but there is no option for video. Should I purchase the PRO version of software online? Please advise. Thank you

If you're having trouble getting that app, maybe reach out to Tello/DJI for some help. That should all be available yet.

On a calm day at 100 feet altitude with WiFi extender I get good video feed and control at about 50 yards. That's 100 feet up and 50 yards out but don't try it on even a breezy day. I'm about ready for the Mavic Air. Getting bored with the Tello. Also, my advice, if you want it, get the Dji recommended controller and a WiFi extender, especially if your going to run the Tello at it's extreme limits.

just got to be quick on grabbing the tello , and flipping it over. because i have many times , and it does work. flipping it over , and the motors shut down.

Looked up this video for the process. Did the same thing and I’m having zero success updating firmware. It just spins it’s wheels saying it’s verifying and it doesn’t do anything. Then the battery overheats and turns off

That’s very strange. I’ve never had that issue. Try taking the battery out to reset the drone and try the update on cell data.

jettlash1000 I ended up Deleting the app and reinstalled it and then it worked the second time. The drone kept losing connection to the iPhone as I was standing in front of it, then eventually it just kept the connection and seems to work decent now.

I notice that you removed your prop guards, does that help to lessen the wind drag while on max altitude with your tello?

For sure. I never fly with prop guards on any drone. They fly smoother and the battery goes longer.

When your phone is already connected with Tello Wifi, how the Firmware download & Update will work without Internet..??

I've never had that issue. Did you try restarting everything and do the update while you're on wifi?

@@jettlash1000 fixed it.. i think its on my wifi settings.. since Tello doesnt have internet connection, my phone disconnects it trying to find other wifi with internet.. lol :D

No, you don't but I don't recommend flying that high with tello anyways. It's a very light toy and you'll most likely loose it to a gust of wind.
