This one took the idea of a kid smashing his monster toys together and didnt just run away with it, it broke the damn landspeed record with it. Its filled with so many little awesomes. The zero-g kaiju fight at the center of the earth mightve been the coolest thing ive ever seen in a monster movie, but then Godzilla curls up back in the Colosseum for a nap at the end and I just lost it. S-rank.

I know many won’t agree with this, but this film was everything I wanted in a monster film. The action was awesome as hell, the story was fun, the monsters having character was cool, and it just truly delivered on everything. Even if I like Minus One more, I am much more appreciative of GxK, mainly because it, alongside Dune 2 and Minus One, helped me finally enjoy movies again after the absolute misery of Thor Love And Thunder damaged the ability for me to enjoy a movie theatrically. This was the best theatrical experience I’ve ever had and the most fun I’ve ever had with any piece of media since Godzilla King Of The Monsters five years ago. Throughout the movie, me and my brother’s inner child kept going absolutely nuts, and frankly, it’s a feeling I have sorely missed. I love this movie so much. Also, happy 10th birthday to Godzilla 2014 and The Monsterverse as a whole

One thing I appreciated about this film was the human story. Not all the characters were spectacular, but they went on a proper adventure. Unlike GvK, the humans kept up with the monsters when it came to advancing the plot. I was genuinely interested to see what the humans were exploring as well as Kong. It reminds me of Godzilla vs the Sea Monster and Son of Godzilla where the humans were stuck on an island with monsters and as a kid, I wanted to see how they get out.

This movie is a great achievement in visual storytelling. Saw it three times in theaters. It just had a lot of heart and had consistent themes, excellent action sequences, actual funny moments, and great music. EDIT: On that last point, I think the soundtrack is great. I love the motifs, and that track "Frozen Rio" is so emotional and epic.

I think Godzilla X Kong is better than Godzilla vs Kong, but the soundtrack is still crap. You can sit here and say that Godzilla King of the Monsters 2019 was a disappointment (Even though I disagree), but you cannot sit here and say that the KOTM soundtrack was one of the best Godzilla soundtracks that we've heard in the past decade, with the exception of Godzilla Minus One.

Bernie definitely had the laugh out loud moments. Kong, Gia and Scar King were interesting characters, especially Kong. But that climax was so rushed feeling, with both the humans and monsters. I'm really surprised you thought Godzilla had enough presence. Spoiler warning, most of the movie he's asleep. He charges up his atomic breath at the end, making you think he'd at least finish off Scar King. But Kong does and Godzilla just shoots it up in the sky lol. Even his battle with the ice dragon thing lasts about 15 seconds. Shame KOTM underperformed because imo it's the best of the five Godzilla related Hollywood movies, not saying it doesn't have flaws. Avengers: Endgame was still killing it in theaters and taking up so much publicity and promotion.

My biggest gripe with the movie was how they handled Jia. Nothing wrong with the character or the actress, she did a fine job but they sort of made her into a 'Girl who's the key to everything'. It would of made more sense, and I was hoping they would add her twin down in Hollow Earth and they both awaken Mosura like the movies of old. Not only would it make more sense, but also provide Jia a connection with Hollow Earth's natives while staying with the science lady (I forget her name). Minor gripe, I wasn't keen on how Mosura sounded in the movie. But over all I had fun with the movie. It was Kong's journey through and through and I was glad to see him have a happy ending.

I didn't hate the movie, just walked out of the theater feeling nothing. The monster fights are cool and all, but in many action scenes the weight and sense of scale are just not there. The fact that there are many other great apes in the film kinda undermines the character of Kong, in my opinion. He is THE giant monster ape, that's why he's called King Kong after all. When you have more giant apes walking around it's like "oh... so there's more of him... ok". But I guess seeing Monsterverse Mothra again and Godzilla's new power up was pretty cool. This one's gonna be remembered as "the one where Godzilla suplexes Kong". Not very memorable beyond that.

I get exactly what you mean, but I would actually go as far to say that I heavily dislike the film and view it as an insult to storytelling. Whilst many of the older Japanese Gojira films were simplistic and cheap, there was always an undeniable charm that GxK just doesn’t have. It’s just another ‘pour more money into it, it’ll be better that way’ movies made by Hollywood studios that have no appreciation for creative film making anymore.

GxK will age well as a gem among the Godzilla/Kong library of films. An underrated Godzilla story with some of the best visual cues and battle moments in Godzilla history. Perhaps the best Kong story ever told as he earns the title of King without the blatant dependency on humans for once.

It'll age very differently for different camps in the fandom. There will most likely always be a group that considers it bottom of the barrel and has fair arguments to back it up. And I would say Kong was actually more dependent on humans than ever before. He was anchored by the toothache before Trapper bailed him out, and in mortal danger from the frostbite before the magic glove was brought in.

@@tarzantabi7845 Eh, vs. Hedorah is definitely viewed more highly than that by a lot of people. Its message is still relevant today, and it's fascinating in that it's a very artistic, experimental movie. The Hedorah Final Form suit is fantastic, too. The film is GODZILLA x Kong. Godzilla has star billing. What I found about this film is that the Americans were strongly pushing Kong rather than Godzilla. For me making Godzilla nothing but a "sleepy puddytat" in his bed was demeaning to who Godzilla is. On the heels of "Godzilla Minus One," I was hoping for something more. What I got was nothing more than a Marvel-esque battle that had little to do with what makes Kaijus fearful. The only thing that I was at all happy with was the continued relationship between Kong and Jia. That is still the best part of this universe. Thank the gods there was no more Madison Russell. I don't think I could have taken more of Millie Bobbie Brown. Though why did we have to suffer more of Bernie? Oh god help us. I'll still take "Godzilla Minus One" over this schlockfest. I really enjoyed this one after being let-down by a second watch of GvK Whilst King of the Monsters is still my personal favourite of the Monsterverse, I do think this movie does a lot of things better than it. And this probably represents my favourite characterization of Godzilla in the more fun, popcorn level movies, I like when Big G is the jerk-ass who does the right thing, and GxK is unapologetic about it, really hope they keep this characterization going forward. Not the biggest Kong fan but I really like him in this movie, very reminiscent of Kratos in the later God of War games (For obvious reasons)

I liked this movie the first time i saw it. Although, i may have overhyped myself too much. I came out of the theaters confused about how much i liked it. Then i watched it a 2nd time. Then a 3rd. A 4th. 5th. 6th. 7th........it just got better and better the more I watched. The little details i missed. Also, if this movie had a Bear McCreary score.........my Godzilla

I have a lot of problems with GvK, GxK fixes some of those problems. I enjoyed it, the character development of Kong has been the heart of the Monsterverse and they delivered in a major way gain. I just hope Godzilla gets some of that same development in future installments.

For me, this film is my least favorite out of the Legedary films and its mostly becuase of the human characters. In fact, my favorite human characters are the ones that don't talk at all! And, somehow, Mothra returned. I know Mothra reincarnates through her offspring but she just comes out of nowhere here, even though her offspring was hinted at at the end credits in KotM.

I loved this thing, the soundtrack felt like the only piece that wasn't up to the same level as everything else otherwise I'd even say it's a perfect movie. It's so sad that they will rush he next movie without the director who did such a great job with 2 of them. Wingard "gets it", he knows what makes this stuff fun and is competent at doing it which is hard to find in Hollywood.

The thing that really helps sell this movie as the best thing to come out of The Monsterverse yet is the progress to it. Look at how the scope, tone, action, technology and primary Monsters have come since 2014. I don't know how intentional it was, but the makers were VERY sure to be carefull with what they did in each installment. The only thing I wish hadn't disappeared was when you saw the aftermath of the destructive battles and how people were hurt and/or killed because that was one of the things that made the Godzilla 2014 film stand out among others before it. This makes me really hate when Rebecca Hall tells a Monarch worker informing her that people are wanting Godzilla held responsible for his crimes to just basically just let them continue complaining as if it mattered.

If there was one thing I had to complain about the movie that it didn’t give a post-credit-ending. It would be nice if they give us glimpse of what’s gonna come next for the monsters? But all in all still is worth having fun with it. I’ll give the new transformation on Godzilla credit. It does look pretty intimidating but one day do please go back to the blue.

it had something to do with this being planned as the last film, Warner brothers were struggling financially after most of their big films flopped last year. so they anticipated this to be like this franchises last straw. if the film flopped the Mv would end, if it became a hit they would continue it. and since the film became a success they decided to continue the series. that is why the film had a pretty conclusive ending and no post credit scene, because Warner bros didn't know if the film was going to be the last in the franchise or not.

I hope it isn't too much trouble to ask, but do you intend on making a review for Godzilla SP at least some time in the future? Not many people have talked about it as much as the Anime Trilogy and it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on it. You don't have to if you don't want to though. I know that not all of your time is dedicated to videos.

Oh hey, another review. Glad to see content pumped back into the channel. So, that is pretty much my opinion on the movie. It was endearing for moments but troblesome in others. I did like characters given to both monsters and how the attention on them and still be understandable for audiences. The whole Skar King and Kong sequence, Godzilla and Kong at Egypt and Kong and Suko bonding are the highlights of the movie IMO. The human characters were ok IMO, it was fine that we got only a few instead of so many and having trouble on who to give the attention. The music was straight up awful. None of it was good except maybe the main title theme.

I hope next movie is Godzilla solo movie or Godzilla and Kong with more focus Godzilla story because Kong has development and happy story for him, more screen time than Godzilla in MonsterVerse. Godzilla is character begining this cinematic universe so he deserves another movie focus him and let bring powerful Toho villain next time.

My two biggest problems are that Skar King died too, soon he needed at least one more fight where we see the true potential of his lanky kong fighting style as someone more thin and agile than Kong. The "false king" angle of his character should not make him pathetic and too reliant on his crystal, his patheticness comes from his tyranny and lack of morals not lack of strength. Godzilla needed more characterization, he felt a bit more thoughtful and nuanced in the previous two films even when being swift and aggressive. Though i do think it was the right move to have him immediately attack kong again!

Definitely doesn’t deserve 4 stars. I remember you giving Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) a well deserved 3 stars and seeing people in the comments complaining about you being too harsh on the film. From what you had to say about this film, it sounded like you were going to give it the same rating, so I was surprised to see that additional star. Don’t feel like you have to pander to your audience and give the rating they want to see.

not really, he claimed on his first thoughts review, that he was a bit underwhelmed by GvK but this movie corrected most of the issues he had with GvK (like the focus on unesesary human filler subplots, which godzilla x kong fixes that issue) its just a case of him enjoying a movie more than the other

@@tarzantabi7845I hadn't watched that video, so I lacked that context. I guess I was just projecting my own opinions onto him. It's been a long time since I last watched Godzilla vs. Kong, but from what I remember, the problem with the human drama wasn't that there was too much of it, but that it was bad. By having less human drama, I don't really see that as fixing the problem, but more so just sweeping it under the rug. I think viewing the human story as an unfortunate necessity to create an excuse for monsters to fight is the wrong way of looking at kaiju movies, and that, ideally, the story of the humans and the monsters should be interlinked. I find that the kaiju movies I tend to enjoy the most do this (e.g. Daimajin (1966), Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris (1999), Cloverfield (2008), and Colossal (2016) just to name a few). A large part of my disappointment with Godzilla vs. Kong was the lack of care it had for telling a compelling story. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire did seem like it was trying to fix that problem, I just think it went the wrong way in trying to do that. I don't really know where I'm going with this comment or what point I'm trying to make so I'm going to stop typing now.

I’ve commented this in a separate reaction video but I’ll elaborate it here. I love how it seems like Godzilla actively doesn't want to be here. He spends the whole movie getting stronger so he can end the fight as soon as possible and go back to bed. He HATES Kong and all the wacky adventures he goes on, and is guilt-tripped by Mothra into helping him. He's an unwilling participant in his own movie and its kinda hilarious. That look he gives Kong at the end after Kong smirks at him is, “If it wasn’t for Mothra, I’d have left you for dead with a smile on my face. I had to beat on 3 women today (Scylla, Tiamat, Shimu), and being associated with you has been my lowest moment”

I know there were some new kaiju fans (I say New because the new ones that just got into this genre in the last decade from the 2014 Godzilla movie and everything that’s happened since from both legendary and to, they act really weird. I felt like every other generation before them just loved Godzilla and King Kong. These kids act like King Kong stole their girlfriend.) Say they want just a solo Godzilla movie next they don’t want any other monsters in it they just want a Godzilla film. I guess it’s because of Godzilla minus one and they want to see the monster versus replicate that but in this timeline, how exactly do you do that? So they’re just supposed to turn this Godzilla bad and then by the end of the movie the humans find a way to kill him? I mean that’s really the only thing you could do in your killing one of your biggest attractions. The other thing I think people need to come to grips with is that those type of fans need to realize that Godzilla and King Kong together are kind of what makes this work now. Say what you want or your favorite is but the top three successful movies in this franchise I’ll have King Kong in them. If you’re judging the movies and you take out who your favorite is and take out the spectacle of it all in which movies just the best movies as far as the plot and things like that it’s Kong Island steel. I’m not saying that means it has to be your favorite. I know that’s the better movie but I have more fun lately the two movies with both Godzilla and Kong in them. Kong he’s what pushes the movie forward. he’s the one that can talk to the humans I’m not saying you have to have that, but it does work and most of the casual fans look at king Kong as the representative for us. I love both monsters, equally I really do. But I just don’t buy this idea that the right move is to have Godzilla in a movie by himself because the conflict would have to be the world versus him. Godzilla minus one is the best Godzilla movie, but for the universe that is set up with legendary that just wouldn’t work here. I know it sounds cool, but I think even the people saying that’s what they want once they saw it would realize they didn’t want that. Would love to see a threat, maybe even from multiple different monsters we still haven’t seen Mecca Ghidora yet. Maybe the group that stole the skull in the last movie finds a way to create him and it would be a good way to also introduce some of the other alien kaiju from Toho like Gigan. I would really like to see three or four super overpowered space monsters come in to where Godzilla, King Kong, Mothra, Rodan and and even bring in Anguirus make his debut in this hypothetical movie, and have those for fighting to defend the earth from the space monsters. Start the movie with the Worlds government just furious and they have just had it with the Titans. They’ve made up their mind. They don’t want to listen to monarch anymore and they have all these new weapons that they’re going to destroy Godzilla and King Kong and every other titan with. But before they can attack, earths monsters have the invasion from the alien monsters, and then earth military’s use all these new weapons. They’re proud of them and they don’t work. Have them. Have like a military general and some politicians so happy as they marched towards the alien monsters and they’re smiling irritated ear because after they destroy them, they will prove to monarch that they don’t need Godzilla and King Kong and the other ones either that they can take care of these threats. And after they kill these alien monsters, then they’re plan is to go after the earth monsters. But then, when the plan fails miserably, and all the military that was sent after the alien titans are all dead, the Earth realized that they’re only hope was their titans. I think that’s where they need to go next. I know why people want just a solo Godzilla movie but in this universe it wouldn’t be as cool as they think it would be.
