Thanks Simon another dignified quality podcast. I watched Blackburn in the 90s we got season tickets the season after they won it, 95/96, 96/97 and 97/98. Two schoolfriends and myself. Being under 16 we got concessionary prices. No more than £300. We were able to watch Shearer for a season and he was simply incredible. After that the team went into decline. Roy Hodgson was a disaster, so was Ray Harford. Brian Kidd bless his soul came in at the last minute severing ties with Sir Alex. After that I stopped caring. It was too painful to pay attention to Blackburn. Their star didn’t burn for very long but it was very bright in 1995. We were actually from Bolton. And one night my Dad and I saw Sherwood in the Bradshaw Tandoori. It was pretty obviously him, he was even dressed in Blackburn tracksuit pants, and he had his famous medium length hair. He even replied in a cockney accent. There was only my dad and I and I think I even had a Blackburn shirt on. I quietly walked up to him and asked if he was Tim Sherwood with the hope of getting an autograph but he rejected me flat. He said (in his finest London accent nah mate and giggled. I just walked off crushed. Going off that unfortunate incident and despite his admirable frankness, the guy lacks a sense of humour. People remember how you are with them. I respect what he did as a footballer and for Blackburn but I’m not buying him a beer in a pub, no chance. One miserable overly deadpan boring dude.

With 'run-of-the-mill' sports 'personalities' such as boxers, footballers/managers etc [where Jordan is mildly more intelligent] he can conduct a reasonably interesting interaction. However, it would be really interesting to see Jordan up against someone with far superior intellect or from a sport he isn't so familiar with. [eg: I would love to see him try to interview a Sir Dave Brailsford!] Otherwise, Jordan has to be the worst interviewer ever in terms of constantly interrupting and finishing the other person's thoughts. He also seems to have never been taught or learnt that the audience want to hear about his guests - and not about him!! PS If you really want to see how a proper interview should be done - take a look at this example of James Lipton with Clint Eastwood on 'Inside the Actor's Studio'. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpPSaKhpf6aghMk

I come away from these incredible podcasts with the feeling that they could be even better with a little more time to really get into some of the conversational points. They move along far too quickly bouncing onto the next subject matter far too soon. 90mins would be a sweet-spot because not only would that give Simon time to really get the crow-bar under the subject but it will also give the viewing audience more time with each individual. Love the podcasts. It's no good that some "sporting director" making decisions separate from the manager and just giving players who can't fit into the system. Look at Man United who have wasted a boatload of money on players that weren't a good fit. They need to work closely together to recruit the best players for the team at a good price.
