I met him in Brighton too. It was four o'clock in the morning I was tripping balls after taking a dodgy pill and I was hanging upside down from the pier thinking I was the lovechild of a Desmodus Rotundus (that's a Vampire Bat for those of you who didn't listen at school) and Noel Edmonds in his House Party phase. My girlfriend was throwing washed up algae in my face whilst shouting "Surprise Surprise " and "We're gonna have a lorra lorra laughs" (in hindsight this annoys me as those are in fact Cilla Black quotes and don't really correspond with the experience I was having. "Deal or No Deal" or "Blobby Blobby Blobby" would have been much more apt and would make this somewhat contentious and surreal anecdote more coherent). Anyway, Snr walked past and shook my hand, he was an absolute gentleman, and super strong.

My favourite boxer ever - bumped into him once outside Harrods in Knightsbridge. It was pissing down with rain and we asked if he wouldn’t mind taking a photo with us. He had a lady with him and told us he was just going to get her into a taxi first then he would be straight back. Id have put money on him just getting into the taxi as well and then buggering off as it really was bucketing it down heavy - but he didn’t. He saw the lady into the taxi further down the road then walked back through the rain and had a photo taken with us and a quick chat. I’ll never forget that. Proper gentleman in every sense.

He never finished a fighter after Michael Watson, he had Collins gone on the ropes and Chris let him recover , its a noble thing to be in a sport where your job is to knock your opponent out , or put a beating on him to stop the fight, sadly after what happened , and Chris blames himself, he just couldn't finish off a fighter. He would have beat Collins as well , yet rather than risk Collins life he eventually lost on points. That's a noble man. There is also another fight , I cant remember the opponent, but Chris has them on the ropes , and he hits then beckons the ref to end the fight so he doesn't have to hit his opponent anymore. The guy is a class act , treated badly by the press.

Was Thompson the only man to stop him ? I remember it was the 11th I think , Chris's eye was essentially closed and swollen , he couldn't see. I remember it being cruiserweight which was Thompsons nature weight and was so much bigger than Eubank, as you say Eubanks heart, his pride and jaw meant he took a beating and was still there , only his eye stopped the fight. I would say he is probably the hardest fighter in boxing ever , that man was made of granite. There should be a statue of him in Brighton , he is a legend , and a noble man.
