I am not a professional.
Take a base Best Buy HP Pavillion ($400) tower desktop and upgrade memory, HDD\SSD, and video card to make it perform better.
Base CPU: i3 G10,
HDD: 256 GB SSD
Memory: 8 GB DDR 4 2600 MHZ
Onboard video
Win 11 Home (default with bloat-ware)
Proposed upgrades:
Memory 32 GB DDR4 3200 MHZ
512 SSD gamer HDD
2 GB external video card
Win 10 Pro
Actual:
Memory 32 GB DDR4 3200 MHZ
Win 11 Home with Bloat-ware removed
Requirements:
1. In-town parts
2. Around $500-600
3. Desktop tower with space to grow
4. Memory 32 GB DDR4
5. Remove Bloat-ware and crappy AV
6. Wired Ethernet jack, a ton of USB ports
Steps:
1. Purchase from Best Buy (I used their pickup service)
a. HP Pavillion Tower
b. Upgraded memory 32 GB
c. Upgraded SSD 512 GB
d. Video card (I already had one). Recommend at least 4 GB or more
2. Wear a wrist strap or anti-static device or rubber gloves to ground
3. Open case.
4. Remove old SSD HDD
5. Install new SSD
6. Remove old RAM sticks
7. Install new RAM sticks DIMMs
8. Find the PCIe slot and dry fit the video card
9. Determine which slot to remove or mod card is needed
10. Install video card
11. Boot and go into the BIOS F10 for this Pavillion
12. Confirm memory is correct, and HDD is found. If you video is good then the card works.
13. Install your favorite OS for this example we use Win 11 Home.
14. Remove all the crappy bloat-ware
a. McAfee AV crap all of it
b. Any trial games
c. MS365 trial crap. Be careful because I uninstalled my legit copy.
d. Remove MS Teams
e. Any search bars, game bars, etc crap
f. Weather apps or any crap not MS and even some of their stuff is crap
15. Run Windows Update to install all the latest patches
